Adisadel College gets off to a good start in The Sharks Season 5 campaign.

The stars are aligned—the Senior Sharks edition of The Sharks Quiz is airborne and showing on TV3.

In similar vein as Seasons 1-4, Senior Sharks 5 promises to unleash astute minds with exceptional abilities in Numeracy, Social Literacy, Science and Literacy.

The famous Adisadel College, Cape Coast, were up against Saviour Senior High, Osiem, in the first contest of Senior Sharks Season 5.

Adisadel College’s ride in the Senior Sharks has been somewhat bumpy.

The ‘Zebra Boys’ as they are affectionately called were Season 2 second runner-up, but they've been colourless thereafter.

Saviour SHS were making their first foray into this comprehensive quiz competition for Senior High Schools.

Would Adisadel College stand tall like a citadel on a hill, or would Saviour SHS be the proverbial small axe that cuts down the big tree.?

At the end of four rounds of intellectual exchanges, the Cape Coasters had emphatically downed the Easterners.

Round 1

Round 1 jetted off in earnest with the Santaclausians (another moniker for Adisadel College), the first to occupy the ocular of audience and viewers.

Before proceeding, however, it is once again imperative to acknowledge that Round One is by kind sponsorship of Kellog's.

Adisadel College made their intentions in the Season 5 of Senior Sharks crystal clear with a flawless and spotless display in Round 1.

They earned eighty(80) points to put themselves in very good stead going into the subsequent rounds.

Saviour also did put in their all and earned a commendable sixty(60) points.

Round 2

Substitutions for both schools were effected before Round 2 began.

Adisadel College kept their eyes on the ball and continued to forage the round, bringing home points after points.

Round 2 ended with Adisadel College having sixty-five(65) points while Saviour SHS fell down flat with negative five(-5) points.

Round 3

By the time the accurate time keeper's bell chimed to end the round, the first contest of the Senior Sharks 5 was turning out to be a one-sided affair.

The buzzers from Adisadel College filled the air incessantly and except on a few occasions all the buzzers hit their mark.

Saviour SHS appeared to be understandably overawed.

Round 4

Adisadel College(Adisco) were firmly planted at the next stage of Senior Sharks Season 5.

With one hundred and ninety-five(195) points tally to Adisco's credit against seventy(70) to Saviour SHS, the latter were mathematically out of the contest.

Not even the uphill task of answering all eight questions in the last round could SAVE Saviour SHS.

That notwithstanding, the chieftains in Math, English, Science, Mathematics and General Knowledge prepared to show the stuff they are made of.

First off were Cudjoe and Dawson for Saviour SHS and Adisco respectively in the English segment.

Benjamin and Frank put themselves up for Adisco and Saviour SHS respectively in the Math segment.

It’s fair to say that both embarked on a journey of guess work as answers they gave to both questions failed to score.

Abdul Wahab Mumin and Abraham stepped up in the Science segment of the ‘Right Corner’ Round.

After both missing the first question, Abdul Mumin made amends and meticulously arrived at a correct answer.

In the General Knowledge, the specialists were Banyan and Rhoda for Adisadel College and Saviour SHS respectively.

Banyan, perhaps a basketball enthusiast buzzed the quickest to identify the photo of NBA superstar, Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors.

Rhoda answered the song in the background correctly as “Kwaku the traveller" as opposed to Banyan’s incorrect answer of ‘Black Sherif’ who actually sang the song.

The first contest of the Senior Sharks Season 5 was over.

With a five-star performance and a colossal score of two hundred and twenty-five(225), Adisco had scaled the first hurdle of their Senior Sharks 5 campaign unhindered.
