ADISCO UNABLE TO BREAK THE BLUE MAGICIANS' CODE AS PRESEC WINS HISTORIC SECOND SENIOR SHARKS TROPHY

It’s come home, finally! The Presbyterian Boy’s Secondary School (Presec), Legon, have won Senior Sharks 6 to firm their place as a pantheon among Senior Sharks legends. At exactly 3pm, Saturday June 24, 2023, the curtain rose at the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Accra, as two intellectual powerhouses - Presec, Legon, and the famous Adisadel College, Cape Coast, tussled for the Senior Sharks 6 trophy. The accolades and odes that come with being crowned Senior Sharks champions aside, this clash was also a date with history.

Presec, Legon, have won the Senior Sharks before in 2020, and were hoping to become the first school to win two titles.

Adisadel College, Cape Coast, were in their first Senior Sharks final and looked forward to winning their first trophy.

The journey to the finals also told two contrasting narratives for the two highly-rated finalists.

The Santaclausians were made to wipe sweat, blood and tears from their brow in their last contest against St. Peter's SHS.

Presec’s route was less hellacious as they easily sidestepped St. Augustine's College to make it four successive finals.

Against this background, the grand finale of Senior Sharks 6 had garnered significant attention and traction in traditional and social media owing to the talents and potential displayed by the two teams.

With hindsight, Adisco's epic encounter with defending champions, St. Peter's, appear to have sucked the life out of them, as they’d ran out of gas by the time they faced the Blue Magicians.

The result of the grand finale was thus inevitable: Presec’s air of invincibility remains stronger than ‘apartheid’.

Round 1

Comprising a roster of brilliant students, the Presecans embody a relentless dedication to learning.

But even the primus inter pares do find the carefully crafted questions in the finals of Senior Sharks daunting, occasionally.

In the first round of this contest, Presec came away with forty (40) marks, which is quite unlike them but vital points nonetheless.

Adisco were like pregnant fish in water tackling their eight set of questions and could only manage twenty (20) points.

Round 2

Just by way of a snapshot of Presec's record in Senior Sharks- they have the highest points tally from the Round of 16, quarterfinals, and semi-finals with respect to Numeracy.

And with Nii Dortey hale and hearty, slackness had no place in the lexicon of the Presecans.

True to their nature, Presec amassed maximum points in both the Reading and Arithmetic segments.

Adisco had shown great improvement with their Numeracy acumen, and bagged successive correct answers to the admiration of all.

At the end of the Round, Presec were the superior side with fifty (50) points while Adisco took twenty-five (25) points.

Round 3

It was at this stage of their semi-final clash where Adisco's resurgence coalesced into a potent force that dislocated St. Peter's SHS.

This round started on an unsatisfactory note, however, with the first two of the questions either wrongly answered or left unanswered.

But when Adisco snatched the third riddle, Presec responded with back-to-back correct buzzes.

Yet again, the Blue Magicians were working wonders as their showmanship became the cynosure of all eyes.

They had thirty-five (35) points at the end of the Round to Adisco’s fifteen (15) points.

Round 4

As long as the point gap is less than eighty (80) and Adisco answers all question in the one-on-one round with no response from Presec, another surprise comeback was in the offing.

Unfortunately for Adisco, St. Peter’s and Presec are two different entities with different architecture.

Dortey cemented his ‘MVP’ in Numeracy status when he picked the two questions to send deafening cheers ripping through the auditorium.

Benedict, the Math specialist for Adisco had nothing but shock on his face.

All specialists combined brought zilch to their schools: Michael Kwasi and Jamayne the Science specialists for Adisco and Presec respectively.

Kwabena and Roland, the English experts for Presec and Adisco respectively.

And in Social Literacy, Michael and Nii Otu.

Presec’s dominance was completed as the final scores gave them one hundred and forty-five (145) points to sixty (60) for Adisco.

In search of an adjective to eulogize Presec? Perhaps FANTABULOUS! will suffice?

Congratulations Presec!
