THE MFANSTIPIM  SCHOOL VERSUS ST. CATHERINE SHS CONTEST IN THE SENIOR SHARKS 6 WAS AKIN TO A GOLIATH AND DAVID ENCOUNTER

Mfantsipim School, reputedly superior to their lesser-known opponents was expected to run riot in this contest, but the script showed something slightly different. For a brief moment, it looked like Mfantsipim ( Goliath) was indeed going to be slain by St. Catherine (David), as the latter took an early lead in the first Round.

The potential the girls exhibited, however, wittered gradually with Mfantsipim coming into their stride in the subsequent rounds.

At the end, Mfantsipim School which entered this contest as a Ranked School rode to the next round of Senior Sharks 6 unimpeded.

Lining up for St. Catherine SHS were Margaret, Philomona, Josephine, and Milicent.

Cape Coast, Kotokuraba-based Mfantsipim were represented by Christian, Prince, Godwin, and Kwadwo.

Round 1

Mfantsipim School hiccupped in this Round with a poor command of social literacy, only managing a score of thirty(30) out of the available eighty(80).

When St. Catherine had their turn, they looked bent on capitalizing on Mfantspim’s early stutter to establish a healthy lead.

The seriousness they attached to their set of questions yielded some positive results as they ended the round with the desired lead, however, small.

Round 2

Both schools had given each other a sneak peek into their intent and the R-Cubed Round was all to play for.

Kwabotwe, the by-name of Mfantsipim reposed confidence in the charges who started the first round to remain unchanged thus.

On the other hand, St. Catherine brought on Anna to bolster the efforts put in by the first quartet before Round 2 began.

There was little to separate the two schools in the Reading and Writing, with Mfantsipim slightly ahead.

The Arithmetic section was the point at which St. Catherine coiled into their shelf and allowed Mfantsipim to break away.

Round 3:

With the scales turned in Mfantsipim’s favour by the end of Round 2, the contest was technically the Cape Coasters’ to lose.

That notwithstanding, Stanley stepped into the contest to contribute to the forward march of Mfantsipim.

Once again, Mfantsipim School did what was necessary and deservedly ended the round with another lead.

Round 4

Prince and Milicent were the English experts for Mfantsipim and St. Catherine respectively and they divvied the twenty marks at stake..

Godwin and Margaret as specialists for Mfantsipim and St. Catherine respectively in Mathematics both  missed the two questions posed.

Christian and Apegwine showed up as Science dons with Christian hitting the bull's eye with his first attempt but going wide on his second attempt.

Obeng and Josephine entered the scene to round the contest up with their general knowledge but be it religiously or politically both had zilch knowledge.

Photo of popular American televangelist, T.D Jakes and the voice of Speaker of Ghana’s parliament, Alban Bagbin all got incorrect responses from quizmistress, Evelyn Agyepong.
