From tears to cheers- Augusco stun Presec to win Senior Sharks 8

St. Augustine’s College and Presec, two accomplished schools, have a long history of weary hostilities between them going all the way to Season 3 of the Senior Sharks quiz.

In as many meetings between the two at the semifinals, St. Augustine’s College (Augusco) have always been second best.

But finally, after years of travails, traversing difficult terrains and trodding the raggy road, they got their well-deserved revenge on the biggest stage.

It is a nostalgic feeling for Augusco to win the first Senior Sharks trophy against an opponent that has been an albatross around their necks.

The contest itself streamed live on The Sharks Quiz channels on Facebook, YouTube, and TikTok, was a cagey encounter.

Both schools were upbeat about their chances and went in hard on their questions from Round 1.

Augusco, cognizant of the lurking danger of Presec made sure to keep a buffer from the beginning of the contest till victory came at last.

Round 1 (Right Corner)

With a grand finale of the scale as this is, questions are always a tad bit beyond the regular.

At the end of the round, both Presec and Augusco scored low with forty (40) for Augusco and thirty (30) for Presec.

Round 2 (Right Corner)

Presec correctly called the first question of the round “rejuvenate”.

The Reading and Writing segment was neatly executed by both schools.

Presec and Augusco then approached the Arithmetics tactically till Presec took a bonus point from Augusco.

Presec added their last question of the round correctly for another ten (10) points.

At the end of the round, Presec was leading with forty-five (45) as Augusco tagged along with thirty-five (35).

Round 3 (STEM Round)

Both schools were shades of their attempts at the riddles. This was a subpar round for both schools as Augusco was hit with a negative score of five (-5) while Presec took a heavy tumble with negative (-15) points.

Round 4 (One-on-one)

How exciting it was that quintessential Kwadwo would unscramble the first scrambled word “quintessence”. Sedinam also unscrambled “Jamboree”. They represented as experts in English- the former expert to Augusco and the latter to Presec.

In Math, Daniel and Caleb came as experts for Augusco and Presec respectively. Daniel was super fast and accurate with his first buzz to improve Augusco’s chances.

But the second question was miles apart from them.

Papa Kwadwo and Theophilus for Presec and Augusco, respectively as Science experts shown on the screen.

There was no correct answer to the first question from both experts, but Theophilus patiently buzzed on the second question for ten (10) points for Augusco.

Joshua and Elijah for Augusco and Presec as General Knowledge experts, respectively, would bring the curtains down on a highly successful Senior Sharks 8 quiz.

It was Elijah who correctly identified Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, Director General of the Ghana Prisons Service.

Which then translated into twenty (20) points for Presec at the end of the round, while Augusco had thirty (30) points.

The final scores of the grand finale of Senior Sharks 8 were declared as eighty (80) points for Presec and one hundred (100) for Augusco.

Augusco by this hard-fought victory now have the respect due them in the Senior Sharks community, and most importantly, a seat on the Hall of Famers table.
