Opoku Ware in stupendous form against Holy Child School
Opoku Ware School, Kumasi, looked fit and proper as they began their onslaught of Senior Sharks 8 in supersonic fashion. The Season 2 winners of the Senior Sharks quiz shone brightly in their first Senior Sharks 8 contest against Holy Child School, Cape Coast. It was a contest that had all the mental compasses of the two teams operating at maximum capacity. Holy Child School, for proper context, did prove a force to reckon with and was eagerly determined to stop Opoku Ware School (OWASS) in its tracks.
This was seen in the first two rounds of the competition where the girls from ‘Angels Hills’, the hallowed grounds of Holy Child, held Opoku Ware in check.
At the end of Round 2, only ten (10) points stood between Holy Child and the Owarians, as Opoku Ware is affectionately called.
It was in the STEM Round, and with the tour de force of Stephen Ampemah Baah present that Opoku Ware left Holy Child with no chance.
Holy Child’s overall performance was up there with the best girls schools in the competition, but in this case, the more efficient team carried the day.
Round 1 (Right Corner)
Both schools started well, displaying in-depth knowledge in General Knowledge to end the round at par with sixty (60) points each.
Round 2 (R Cubed)
With the scores in Round 1 nullifying each other, Round 2 was a clean slate to begin all over again.
Holy Child hit the first question of the round and kept a steady head in the Round.
OWASS, just like Holy Child, also maintained their well-organised structure and buzzed with more successes.
At the end of the round, OWASS had fifty( 55) points as Holy Child tailed them with forty-five (45) points.
Round 3 (STEM)
This round appeared to have been offered to Opoku Ware to engage in a dress rehearsal for their next contest.
At the end of the round, Holy Child had no points but Opoku Ware School had fifty- five (55) points for doing all the work.
Round 4 (One-on-one)
Manasseh and Hilda represented OWASS and Holy Child, respectively, as English experts.
Manasseh took all twenty (20) points on offer.
In Math, David and Penel for OWASS and Holy Child, respectively, were paired; once again, David took twenty (20) points.
Pernel and Nana Ama came up as Science experts for OWASS and Holy Child but they had no clues to the two questions posed.
Elizabeth and Andrew then finished the pair of experts for Holy Child and OWASS respectively.
Andrew got the first question but the second question went without any correct response.
At the end of Round 4, Holy Child School had been deflated with another zero (0) point while Opoku Ware School maintained their dominance with fifty (50) points.
Finally, the total valid score was one hundred and five (105) points for Holy Child and Opoku Ware School, Santasi, with two hundred and twenty (220) points.
OWASS has sounded the trumpet with this performance. Congratulations to both teams.
