Senior Sharks 9 quarterfinals- Presec and Prempeh in ‘World War 3’
Just when fans thought they had seen it all in Senior Sharks 9, the most gladiatorial of them burst forth like a big bang. Prempeh College and Presec, Legon, were the protagonists in this quarterfinal contest that has shattered the limits of human imagination. The performance of these two schools in this clash was simply breathtaking. It was so flawless that fans have been likening them to humanoids.
Contests between the two have always been battled for at an elite level, to be fair. But this quarterfinal clash of Season 9 took it to unbelievable proportions.
The combined total score of four hundred and thirty-five (435), entered the history books as the highest-scoring contest of Senior Sharks.
The losing score of a whopping one hundred and ninety (190) also went down as the highest ever by a losing team. This is evidence of the sheer luminescence that was shown on that historic day.
Presec, losing finalists from Season 8, have three unprecedented trophies under their belt. Prempeh has yet to lay its hands on the ‘Golden Book of Knowledge’.
However, in an intellectual warfare between two arch-rivals, trophies and records do not necessarily influence the eventual outcome.
From start to finish, there was little to separate the two teams, as all contestants displayed in-depth knowledge of the four core competencies
It was an all-round exceptional display by both teams, but Presec pushed a little harder to obtain the ultimate victory.
Round-By-Round Account
A new benchmark in Senior Sharks 9 was set as Presec became the first school to earn a perfect score in the Right Corner Round.
But Prempeh College were not to be written off, as they also worked hard to earn sixty (60) points.
If the world-class display in the First Round was good, what was about to be witnessed in the Second Round was even better.
Presec and Prempeh achieved the incredible feat of eighty (80) points each in the R Cubed Round. The frequency at which the two teams operated in Literacy and Numeracy confounded everyone. Phenomenal!
With two more rounds to go, Presec stepped up the gas in the riddles and outwitted Prempeh College to end the round with forty-five (45) points.
Once again, Prempeh College were not completely out of the equation but they kept their chin up to record twenty (20) points.
In the final round, where experts from each team man up to each other, Presec were now more strategically placed.. That did not, however, cause them to let their guards down as they fought like wounded lions to once again top the One-On-One Round with forty (40) points.
Prempeh's experts showed outstanding abilities and resilience as they accepted Presec's challenge with thirty (30) points.
At the end of a riveting contest, Prempeh College had one hundred and ninety (190) points while Presec earned two hundred and forty-five (245) points.
