Senior Sharks 9 quarterfinals- St. Peter's denies Accra Academy a medal
At the second quarterfinals contest of Senior Sharks 9, two academic giants faced off in a blockbuster action for a slot at the Semi-Finals. St. Peter's SHS, Nkwatia, and Accra Academy produced one of the most insanely competitive contests yet at Senior Sharks 9. With a Semifinals placement which would guarantee a medal in sight, the two schools entered this match with their destiny in their own hands.
The contest was keenly fought, with both schools making the most of their best competencies to advance their cause.
Whereas Accra Academy started the brighter side, racking up the most points in the First Round, St. Peter's saved it for the last to dip at the finish line.
In between the First and Final Rounds, both schools displayed incredible mental stamina in the Numeracy & Literacy, and STEM Rounds.
Both schools were at their optimum throughout the contest, but St. Peter's proved sharper as their output in the R Cubed Round helped propel them to a second consecutive Semi-Finals.
Round-By-Round Account
Accra Academy were fantastic in their last contest against St. Louis SHS, and the story continued as they did the most to earn forty (40) points at the end of the First Round.
Unfortunately, St. Peter's could not keep up the pace with Accra Academy, but they escaped with twenty (20) points nonetheless.
The jolt St. Peter's received from the Right Corner Round brought them on their feet, as they produced some magical moments in the R Cubed Round to pull away from Accra Academy with fifty (55) points.
With thirty (30) points, Accra Academy were not far adrift either.
The intensity of the contest was now at fever pitch, as the two went at it again in the STEM Round.
It was scenes of risks and adventures, with both schools displaying incredible scientific prowess. But at the end of the Round, Accra Academy had been more strategic, as they ended the round with twenty (20) points against fifteen (15) to St. Peter's.
When the experts from both sides walked up the dais, the contest was tied at ninety (90) points apiece. This was more than a cliffhanger.
The specialists pushed and shoved in a desperate attempt to nudge ahead of their counterparts but the specialists from St. Peter's exhibited adeptness to end the round with forty (40) points, while Accra Academy earned twenty (20) points.
A contest of two brilliant schools had ended and Accra Academy walked away proudly with one hundred and ten (110) points against the deserved winner St. Peter's SHS with one hundred and thirty (130) points.
