Senior Sharks 9 quarterfinals- Wesley Girls’ climb on top of Okuapemman
Wesley Girls’ High School, Cape Coast, have rewritten the history books after humbling Okuapemman SHS to gain a semifinal placement in Senior Sharks 9. This means that Wesley Girls’ High School will be the only girls school to receive a medal at the prestigious competition. It will also be the second time Wesley Girls has received a podium finish, after going all the way to win Season 4 of the Senior Sharks. But Okuapemman's resume was no less impressive coming into this contest.
They have consistently secured a Super Ranked Status in Senior Sharks, and once again appeared in Season 9 as a Super Ranked school.
In their first taste of competition, they gallantly shackled an indomitable Ghana National College at the Round 16.
That victory over Ghana National College ignited Okuapemman School as they came up against another Cape Coast-based team.
It was a crunch contest, with Okuapemman stretched to the ceiling in a bid to stop Wesley Girls’ High School.
But they lacked the accuracy they exhibited against Ghana National College, and Wesley Girls’ would earn a satisfactory victory.
Round-By-Round Account
The Right Corner Round gave Wesley Girls’ High School a comfortable cushion as they ended the round with forty (40) points.
Okuapemman SHS put in their all, but their best earned them twenty (20) points.
Going into the R Cubed Round, the expectation was high for both schools, and each showed the enthusiasm to get ahead of the pack.
Unfortunately for Okuapemman School, the cards didn't fall in the right places as they ended the round with a negative score of fifteen (-15).
Wesley Girls were able to navigate the round better and ended with twenty (20) points.
The next two rounds were an interesting spectacle in the annals of Senior Sharks 9.
In both the STEM and One-On-One Rounds, Okuapemman SHS was the only school which had scores recorded against their name.

Wesley Girls, unfortunately, had no scores gained despite all their best efforts.
By dint of sheer destiny, however, their cumulative scores in the Right Corner and R Cubed Rounds, were just enough to earn them a sweet victory that sees them at the Semi-Finals for the first time in five years.
Congratulations to both schools.
