Mpraeso SHS finds University Practise SHS a tall order
Cape Coasters, University Practice Senior High School (UPSHS) have made it into the Senior Sharks 8 Round of 16. First timers, Mpraeso SHS, the opponents of UPSHS, appeared up for the fight as these two brilliant schools went all out to see who would bag a Ranked status. UPSHS brought their experience from competing in Senior Sharks 7 with them into this contest.
That ability to navigate their way around questions owing to their exposure in Senior Sharks turned out to be a huge advantage for UPSHS.
From start to finish, UPSHS led the mountaineers and did not cede their lead to Mpraeso in any round.
To Mpraeso’s credit, they did not wander far off, and kept pace with UPSHS, holding UPSHS to the same scores in the final round.
Unfortunately, the die had already been cast for Mpraeso SHS, as UPSHS would win this contest to equal their achievement in Season 7 of the Sharks quiz.
Round-by-Round action
University Practice SHS took an early lead in the Right Corner Round, with Mpraeso still in the mix.
At the end of the R Cubed Round, UPSHS were still riding high as they held a twenty (20) point gap over Mpraeso.
For the third time in the contest, UPSHS were still first at dawn, holding another slim advantage over Mpraeso.
The last round held a window of opportunity for Mpraeso to flip the contest to the mountainside, but UPSHS held Mpraeso tightly and refused to let Mpraeso run away with a lead.
Both schools bagged twenty (20) points each to end the final round and bring this entertaining clash to a close.
Final scores gave Mpraeso SHS seventy (70) points against a hundred and ten (110) to UPSHS.
