Senior Sharks 9- Opening contest between KNUST SHS and Accra High leave fans yearning for more
The first contest of the Senior Sharks 9 competition was served hot and spicy, leaving a lingering taste in the mouths of fans. With the increasing popularity of the Sharks Quiz aside, which kept fans glued to their screens, the contest itself was a high-quality affair that was worth the money. KNUST SHS, Kumasi, and Accra High School were the first schools entrusted to raise the roof of Season 9 of the most innovative high school quiz.
And they didn’t disappoint, displaying an unbridled grasp of theoretical and practical knowledge in the Arts, Sciences, Business and Artificial Intelligence.
Like the typical Senior Sharks quiz involving two schools on a balance beam, the two schools fought hard, tooth and nail.
KNUST started the more promising side, but that reality was soon to be forgotten as Accra High took total control of the R Cubed Round.
As soon as Accra High turned around the corner, KNUST grounded them by winning the STEM Round.
Accra High were as determined as a bull in a China shop and bounced back to end this first contest of Senior Sharks 9, with an astonishing fifty (50) points.
Right Corner Round (Social Literacy)
KNUST SHS was the first school to set the ball rolling in Senior Sharks 9. They had thirty (30) points at the end of this round, to jump into a slim lead over Accra High who ended the round with twenty (20) points.
R Cubed Round (Literacy and Numeracy)
Accra High was clearly aiming high as they delivered articulately in the English segment. KNUST were not particularly efficient in this segment altogether, languishing with a negative score of five (-5) while the momentum shifted back to Accra High with forty-five (45) points.
STEM Round (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
With the first riddle coming back to the coffers of quizmistress, Accra High School threw their luck to the wind and buzzed for the second question but they missed to allow KNUST bag their first ten (10) points of the round.
Both schools made brave attempts at the rest of the questions but it was KNUST which was sharper and quicker.
At the end of the round, Accra High School had fifteen (15) points to KNUST’s thirty (30) points.
One-On-One (Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Social Literacy)
“ACQUIESCENCE” and “INSIDUOUS” are the two words that needed their missing letters to be correctly provided.
Ewurama of Accra High was spot on- twice as nice for twenty (20) points. Wilhemina came to the table as an expert for KNUST SHS but she couldn’t come to the party.
Dominic for KNUST SHS and Kwadwo for Accra High respectively as Math experts followed. True to their projection, they delivered as each took ten (10) points.
Abdul and Ibrahim emerged as Science experts for KNUST and Accra High respectively.
Accra High kept their winning flame burning as Ibrahim brilliantly buzzed to name “Robert Bunsen” on the first question and buzzed correctly again on the second riddle.
Caleb came to KNUST’s rescue as Alhassan repped for Accra High in General Knowledge respectively. It was a drab end to the first contest of Senior Sharks 9.
At the end of the round, Accra High scored big with fifty (50) points as KNUST managed ten (10) points.
KNUST SHS did well with sixty-five (65) points to end the contest but it was not good enough to disturb Accra High School who finished with a deserving one hundred and thirty (130) points. Congratulations to both teams.
