Senior Sharks 9- Labone SHS keep Accra High in check
The action in the day 2 contests of Senior Sharks 9, continued with a sumptuous duel to usher in a day of intense activity. Accra High School and Labone SHS, two next-door neighbours in the capital Accra, were up against each other in a fight or flee contest. In Senior Sharks, Labone have paid their dues, after surprising all to medal in Season 7 of the competition. Accra High, on the other hand, is yet to assert its renowned excellence in Senior Sharks folklore. Notwithstanding, Accra High School, was in high spirits coming into this contest, having thumped KNUST SHS at the Round 1 stage.
This was evident in how Accra High School equalled the scores of Labone SHS, a.k.a LA Bone in the Right Corner Round.
Labone SHS will recapture the narrative in the Second Round, but that did not materially handicap Accra High as they fought back to equal Labone in the STEM Round.
Unfortunately, Accra High let the last round slip out of their hands, rendering their motto Redimentes opportunitatem meaningless as Labone SHS ensured victory was sealed.
Right Corner Round (Social Literacy)
Each school came into the contest with its game plan and dedicated its manpower to make it work.
For their commendable efforts, both schools ended the round with forty (40) points each.
R Cubed Round (Literacy and Numeracy)
Accra High School paused long before delivering their answer to the first question of the round.
But they missed the first question of the Arithmetic which unleashed a wave of incorrect answers from both schools until Labone bagged a bonus from Accra High with pinpoint accuracy.
Labone enjoyed a continuous streak of correct answers, but missed the last question of the round to give Accra High the last laugh of the round.
At the end of the round, Labone SHS had forty (40) points while Accra High had twenty (20) points.
STEM Round (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Labone’s “B” option to the first riddle was correct for ten (10) points.
There was then a dash to the top, with both schools showing fast fingers, but Accra High ended the round strongly.
Labone, just like Accra High in Round 2, had the last laugh as they buzzed correctly to end a very feisty round.
Fifteen (15) points each was a fair reflection of the proceedings.
