Senior Sharks 9- Fans give Holy Child and St. Louis their flowers for a beautiful display
One of the intriguing and heart-racing contests at the Senior Sharks 9 took place on day 2 of contests at Studio B, TV3, Accra. The contest was between two highly respected girls schools, Holy Child School, Cape Coast, and St. Louis Girls’ SHS, Kumasi. Everybody who followed this contest in the auditorium or online was in awe of the sublime submissions made by these two schools. Apart from the contest being high scoring in general, individual brilliance was also on full display, prompting fans to shower the two schools with accolades. Neither of the two schools could take a commanding lead, as they both maintained scores obtained in each round at par.
It was in the STEM and One-On-One rounds, which had Holy Child ahead by a slender margin and St. Louis also ahead, respectively.
And that minute yet consequential difference was all it took for St. Louis SHS to maintain their Ranked Status in Senior Sharks.
After enduring a tie-break escape from Adonten SHS, Holy Child were hoping for another happy ending but it was not to be.
Right Corner (Social Literacy)
The closeness of the contest was evident from the first round, where both teams cancelled each other out, finishing with thirty (30) points each at the end of the round.
R Cubed (Literacy and Numeracy)
Once again it was nigh-impossible to separate these two well-endowed schools as they continued to exhibit delectable proficiency in Literacy and Numeracy.
At the end of the round, Holy Child School had forty (40) points, the same as St. Louis SHS.
STEM Round (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Carefully evaluating the options given for the first riddle, Holico buzzed for their first correct answer of the round.
St. Louis SHS did not panic, they buzzed for their own ten (10) points.
It was clear to all that the two schools were very STEM-inclined as they kept buzzing to render correct answers and even when they got it wrong, it was a narrow miss.
St. Louis went away with twenty (20) points to
Holico’s twenty-five (25) points concluded another too-close-to-call round.
One-On-One (Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Social Literacy)
This round held the keys to the early flight from Accra to either Cape Coast or Kumasi.
Carissa and Precious braced themselves for the ride of their lives ahead as English experts for Holy Child and St. Louis SHS respectively.
It was Carissa who made the right choice with the first supply of missing letters but the second question went unattempted.
Maxyne and Claudia went ahead as Math experts for Holy Child and Louis respectively. Claudia kept the contest boiling with her first correct answer but the second question swerved them both.
In Science, Juliana and Elise posted for Holy Child and St. Louis SHS respectively.
Elise hit the bull’s eye with two correct answers, implication being that Holy Child had to bag all two questions in the last segment or bid farewell to the Senior Sharks 9.
Pamela and Oprah had the last chance to win this contest for their school as they came forth as General Knowledge experts for Holy Child and St. Louis SHS respectively.
Pamela correctly identified Michael B. Jordan but on the second identification, both drew a blank.
At the end of the round, Holy Child had twenty (20) points to thirty (30) points for St. Louis SHS.
Final Scores then showed one hundred and fifteen (115) points to Holy Child and one hundred and twenty (120) to St. Louis SHS.
To lose by such a high score is shattering to say the least, however, Holy Child will not be disappointed in their overall performance. Congratulations to both schools.

St. Louis SHS became the first girls’ school to progress into the Round 16 of the Senior Sharks 9.
