Sonrise shine, but get eclipsed by Prempeh College

Prempeh College were stretched to the limit before blanketing Sonrise Christian SHS in their Second-Round contest of Senior Sharks 7. Also known as the “King's College”, Prempeh, in a manner not unrecorded in Senior Sharks 7, got one over on Sonrise SHS by the long and rocky road. Without recourse to their next contest, this Second Round victory by Prempeh now puts them in the honorable category of Ranked Schools for Senior Sharks 8.

Sonrise Christian SHS, the best private Senior High School in the Volta Region came into this contest with intent as clear as crystal.

The Ho-based school are perennial high performers, achieving a high of second runner-up in Senior Sharks Season 4.

Their approach to this contest was thus in consonance with their well-known appearances in the Senior Sharks.

Sonrise were so good in this epic battle they even beat Prempeh College to it in the first and last rounds of the contest.

But Prempeh held on tight to record a deserved win and keep their ambitions in Senior Sharks 7 afloat.

Right Corner Round

Prempeh were the first to serve fans and viewers their knowledge of social literacy.

Their output was still not altogether convincing but it was better than in their last contest with Hope College.

Sonrise SHS, being part of the Sharks Quiz for a long time, came out of the round better off than Prempeh.

Prempeh College had thirty (30) points as Sonrise Christian High took forty (40) points to end the Round.

R Cubed Round

Prempeh's perfect start to the Round was the precise booster they needed to overcome the slim deficit from the Right Corner Round.

Not once did they miss a question in the Reading and Arithmetic segment, even going further to bag two bonus questions from Sonrise SHS.

Both schools performed incredibly well in the Arithmetic segment, but Prempeh ended the round the stronger side.

Scores at the end of the round showed Sonrise Christian High with twenty-five (25) points while Prempeh College finished with sixty ( 60) points.

STEM Round

Sonrise bided their time to draw correctly the first question of the Round after Prempeh College had taken the first gamble and missed.

The Sofoline lads didn't learn from that, and buzzed again to truncate the Reading of the second set of clues.

And once again, they were wrong.

Sonrise said their “thank you” once more as they took another ten (10) points again comfortably.

With minus points mounting and threatening their points build up, Prempeh College reorganized and made amends on two successive riddles.

The Round was evenly matched, and at the end of the round, Prempeh College and Sonrise had twenty-five (25) points each.

One-on-one Round

To be or not to be? Will the sun rise or it will set early?

The final round of this enthralling encounter was all to play for.

In English, Alex and Selase were in the saddle to duel as English experts for Prempeh College and Sonrise respectively.

Selase took the first question, and closed the gap between Sonrise and Prempeh. Wheew!

The second question went begging.

Jeffrey and Senyo showed up as Math wizards for Prempeh College and Sonrise.

Senyo beat Jeffrey to the first question, while Jeffrey in turn beat Senyo to the second question. Lovely scenes!

Scientists in the name of Prempeh and Sonrise were Isaac and Elikplim respectively.

Isaac was hailed by the Prempeh supporters gathered at the auditorium.

Because his answer to the second question had won the contest for Prempeh College.

Fredrick and Mawuena represented Prempeh College and Sonrise in General Knowledge respectively.

Mawuena missed the first question by a fraction, but she wouldn't miss the second.

At the end of the round, Sonrise had thirty (30) points while Prempeh College had twenty (20) points.

With a hundred and thirty-five (135) points, Prempeh College had come out of a difficult session to emerge victorious.

Sonrise left the contest with one hundred and twenty (120) points, which all things considered is a score to be proud of.

Sonrise Christian High School came with much heat to melt Prempeh College like shea butter in the sweltering sun.

Prempeh College's evergreen vegetation cover, however, shielded them against defeat.

A big congratulations to both teams.
