Junior Sharks 9 quarterfinal- Queens Court fight, but succumb to Manna’s might

Manna International have moved a step closer to the elite league of the Junior Sharks 9, after a hard-fought victory over Queens Court School, Tema. The two schools were very surgical in this contest and made minimal errors as both pushed for a place in the semifinals. Quite impressively, both teams' scores went through the roof in the first two rounds, with Manna just slightly ahead. Eventually, Manna came away with a well-deserved victory, but Queens Court, unquestionably were no pushovers in this contest.

They held their own against the two-time champions and displayed their high competitive spirit.

It was in the last two rounds of this contest, and most especially the STEM Round in which Manna’s strength, strategy and focus confounded Queens Court.

And in the final hours of the contest, Manna Int put the nail in the coffin of Queens Court, to stave off any notion of a comeback.

Right Corner Round

Manna International, with a reputation as one of the consistent big scorers in this round, once again did what they are known for.

They scored seventy (70) points to fifty (50) by Queens Court. It was a strong opening round, which was to set the tone for a feisty encounter.

R Cubed Round

The two schools displayed their Scripps Spelling Bee acumen, as they both answered correctly all their spelling questions save one.

When it got to the Arithmetic, however, Queens Court went quiet, allowing Manna to mop up both main and both questions.

In an interesting twist, Manna then hit a series of wrong answers, and gave the last question away for Queens Court to snatch it right on the bell for their only ten (10) points.

At the end of the round, Manna International School maintained the lead with forty-five (45) points, while Queens Court School scored forty (40) points.

STEM Round

With a correct buzz and two incorrect buzzes, Queens Court neutralised themselves to end the round with zero (0).

The round belonged to the Breman-Kumasi-based school, which imposed its STEM supremacy with accurate interceptions, interruptions, and interventions. 

Manna International ended the round with a colossal fifty-five (55) points for their hard work.

One-On-One Round

Aseiduwaa and Immaculate took aim at each other as English specialists for Manna and Queens Court respectively.

Aseiduwaa established herself as a wordsmith with no equal when she bagged home the two questions.

The Maths experts called into action were Conrad for Queens Court and Kelvin for Manna respectively. And once again, the specialist was the one with all the twenty (20) points.

Francis for Manna Int. and Samuel for Queens Court respectively manned up as experts in Science and the two questions were correctly answered by each expert.

In General Knowledge, Joy and Mary were introduced as experts for Manna and Queens Court respectively. It was Mary who brought joy to the faces of her fans after she beat Joy to it on the first question.

At the end of the round, Manna took another big score of fifty (50) with Queens Court taking twenty (20) points.

From the final tally, Queens Court were awarded a hundred and ten (110) points to two hundred and twenty (220) points by the runaway winners, Manna Int. Congratulations to both schools.

Fun Fact!

Manna International is the first school in Junior Sharks 9 to earn more than two hundred points in the quarterfinal series.
