Junior Sharks 9 R16- Queens Court outdraws Services JHS

Queens Court School, Tema, have taken the last remaining slot of the quarterfinals of Junior Sharks 9 after cruising to victory against Services Primary and JHS. They thus have equalled the stage they reached in Junior Sharks 8, clearly determined to go one better than that. Queens Court knew Services very well and knew they ought not underestimate one of the consistent performers in Junior Sharks.

The only low point for Queens Court School was in the Second Round, which they lost to the Burma-Camp, based school.

Aside from that, they won all three rounds, starting with the Right Corner Round which they won by sixty (60) points.

Services Primary and JHS have been there and done that, and whatever the results of this contest remain a top team.

Right Corner Round

Queens Court started the round, and put in a great effort and a lot of consultations amongst themselves which paid off with a huge sixty (60) points.

Services also expended a lot of energy on their eighth set of questions but they were able to earn twenty (20) points at the end of the round.

R Cubed Round

Both schools competed amazingly well in the Reading and Writing, even though Services did not suffer as many deductions as Queens Court.

The Arithmetic was also approached brilliantly by both schools to end the round with Queens Court with forty-five (45) points, and Services, who closed the gap with sixty (60) points.

STEM Round

Queens Court School found the motivation to cut the reading of the first riddle and they were deemed right.

Services were not to be upstaged, as they also discovered the mojo to buzz on the second riddle for their ten (10) points.

After both being denied their next answers, they lay back to safeguard the points built up.

At the end of a slow round, Queens Court School had five (5) points, while Services Primary/JHS scored negative ten (-10) points to make the final round the decider of who progresses to the quarter finals of Junior Sharks 9.

One-On-One

Immaculate and Samuel were deployed as experts in English for Queens Court School and Services respectively. The first question was immaculately delivered by Queens Courts’ expert.

In Math, Seyram and Roy came forward as experts for Services and Queens Court respectively.

Both attempted the two questions and on both occasions were ruled incorrect.

Samuel and Kwabena were the Science experts for Queens Court and Services, respectively. The first question went Samuel’s way but the second question evaded them.

Mary and Marily were the experts in General Knowledge for Queens Court and Services respectively. Mary won the battle of the “Ms” with both identifications on point.

Services ended the round with no points while Queens Court took forty (40) points.

At the end of this exciting contest, Services took a respectable seventy (70) points with Queens Court proudly walking into the quarterfinals with one hundred and fifty (150) points. Congratulations to both schools.

Fun Fact!

Queens Court have made two consecutive quarterfinals in two competitions.
