Matta Devi big winner over Sonrise Christian School

Matta Devi School recorded the biggest score yet at the Round of 32 stage of Junior Sharks Season 8. All the way from Kumasi, Matta Devi came to Adesa We, Accra, and delivered a performance that could well be described as ‘5-star’. Aside from being a flawless show, it was also an emphatic statement made by Matta Devi to all others that they are in for business. Right from the blast of the bell to begin Round 1 of this last contest of the Round of 32, Matta Devi was already raring to go.

Clearly, Matta Devi didn’t have the luxury to wait for Sonrise to rise and cause them any problems.

Matta Devi worked brilliantly to round up all available points as best as they could, eventually making this contest a one-sided affair.

But it is also comforting to know that at no point in the contest did Sonrise throw their hands up in despair.

Rather, they worked tirelessly and even when defeat was inevitable, they did the best they could to keep fans glued.

Given the exceptional academic credentials of Sonrise Christian, however, the conclusion fans came to is that this was just a bad day in the office.

Round 1 (Right Corner Round)

Sonrise won the toss to start answering their questions for the round and the contest for that matter.

The sum total of their efforts was twenty (20) points, while Matta Devi doubled Sonrise’s score to end the round with forty (40) points.

Round 2 (R Cubed Round)

Both schools started on a good note in the English segment, bagging their first questions beautifully.

Interestingly, the English questions could not separate the two schools greatly with only a small margin between them.

It was in the Math segment Matta Devi established dominance and produced a string of positive answers.

Scores at the end of the round gave Matta Devi forty (40) points and five (5) to Sonrise.

Round 3 (STEM)

As the round started, fans could visibly feel Matta Devi’s faith in their abilities growing bigger.

The accuracy of their answers to the riddles was simply refreshing, with sixty (60) points at the end of the round to show for their splendid display.

Sonrise also came up with a correct buzz to fetch ten (10) points.

Round 4 ( One-on-one)

The experts for Sonrise had done their permutation and knew the contest had gone with the wind.

Nonetheless, Jennelle and Lois for Sonrise and Matta Devi, respectively, marched to the podium as English experts.

Both experts shared the twenty (20) points at stake.

Michelle for Sonrise and Asante for Matta Devi, respectively, in Mathematics, were up next, with Asante taking ten (10) points.

In Science, Obed for Matta Devi and Emmanuel for Sonrise, respectively, made their appearance.

Obed took all twenty(20) points at stake.

Peter and Christian for Sonrise and Matta Devi, respectively, in General Knowledge, drew the curtains down.

And it was Christian who picked the last question for ten (10) points to Matta Devi.

At the end of the round, Matta Devi took a big fifty (50) points to their tally as Sonrise had ten (10) points to theirs.

At the end of the contest, Matta Devi scored an outstanding one hundred and ninety (190) points to Sonrise’s forty- five (45) points.

Sonrise Christian may have come up short in this contest, but it is a team with sharp brains,  and we are sure they will show up big in subsequent editions of the programme.

Congratulations to all.
