Junior Sharks 9 Semifinals- Power! Precision! puts Manna Int through to the grand finale
Losing finalists of Junior Sharks 8, Manna International, came into their semifinal clash with GIU Int. and were in no mood for niceties. The two-time champions dictated the tempo of this contest, not once relinquishing their stranglehold on their opponents. The two-time champions were every bit a team on the road to redemption, as they faced GIU International in this crunch match.
GIU International were also exceptional and demonstrated its high intellectual capacity throughout the contest.
The only drawback for them was that Manna’s arsenal was too potent for any shield to counteract.
Right Corner Round
Manna picked the keys to this contest and took an early fifty (50) points, unsurprisingly, while GIU International Christian Academy scored twenty (20) points.
R Cubed Round
Both teams competed at a high level of proficiency in the Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic components of the round.
Manna Int. though was more strategic, showing strength and focus to end the round with seventy-five (75) points as GIU International Christian Academy scored forty (40) points.
STEM Round
GIU Int had a lot of catching up to do and as such they didn’t wait for the first riddle to reach its gestation period before buzzing to explain the function of the amniotic fluid in embryonic development.
Having been rendered ball watchers so far, Manna decided to break the rhythm of GIU who had hit three straight correct riddles, but they were not lucky.
They were, however, fortunate on their next interruption for the maximum ten (10) points.
That positive buzz gave Manna an added incentive as they correctly buzzed on the next five sets of riddles.
GIU on the other hand slipped from their initial promise to end the round with twenty (20) points.
Manna once again maintained a strong lead with fifty-five (55) points.
One-On-One Round
Aseiduwaa and Derrick took pole position as experts for Manna and GIU respectively.
The expert for Manna was the fastest at providing the missing letters in the word “breviloquent”.
On the second word too, she was there in a beneficent fashion. Twenty (20) precious points.
For Manna, Kelvin appeared as the Mathematics specialist while Kudjo stood for GIU.
On the second question, Kelvin was on target after both had missed the first question.
Scores at the end of the round stood at forty (40) for GIU and sixty (60) for Manna Int.
Another big scoring contest had ended for Manna who bagged an elephantine score of two hundred and forty (240) points to the commendable hundred and twenty (120) points for GIU.
Fun Fact!
Manna International became the first team in Junior Sharks 9 to score more than two hundred points in two contests of the competition.
