Junior Sharks 8 Round 16- St. Peter’s Catholic Basic try their best, but Ancilla win
First runner-up of Junior Sharks 7, Ancilla Primary and JHS were in no mood to faff around as they met St. Peter’s Catholic Basic at the Round of 16 contests. The Season 7 losing finalists were simply a mouthful for St.Peter’s and left no room for second-guessing why they are in the Junior Sharks 8 quiz. Thus, for the second year in a row, Ancilla have found themselves at the quarter-final stage of the Junior Sharks quiz. Making it into the quarterfinals for the Haatso-based school is, therefore, no big deal. However, it is the finesse with which they marched into the Quarterfinals that’s got fans heaping praises on them.
The opponents of Ancilla, St. Peter’s Catholic Basic, had been among the few first-timers to have competed in Junior Sharks Quiz 8.
They impressed hugely when they took out Jireh International School in their first contest.
Their next test was Ancilla Pri. and JHS, and one they were intent on winning to make their fairytale journey more colourful.
Ancilla wouldn’t let St. Peter’s Catholic add them to their list of vanquished schools and stood on business till the end of the contest.
Round 1 (Right Corner Round)
Ancilla set the ball rolling in this contest, answering their questions on General Knowledge.
Slowly but surely, they did what was necessary to half the allotted marks of eighty (80) in this round.
St. Peter’s R/C interestingly could also manage half of Ancilla’s score of forty (40).
Round 2 (R Cubed Round)
Ancilla snatched St. Peter’s first question for 10 points and followed up with their correct answer.
If the literacy acumen of Ancilla was higher than St. Peter’s, their Arithmetic was something special.
Overall, both schools performed to the best of their abilities in this Arithmetic segment.
In the end, though, it was Ancilla’s big day out, earning a magnificent score of ninety-five (95) with St. Peter’s content with thirty-five (35) points.
Round 3 (STEM Round)
Diamond made an entry to replace Ama for Ancilla before the round got underway.
One unanswered, two questions that went the way of Madina while one correct answer went to Haatso out of the first four questions.
But while St. Peter’s kept their composure and hit the target correctly, Ancilla misjudged their riddles and received incorrect responses.
At the end of the round, Ancilla had five (5) points, a significant drop from the scores they had in the first two rounds.
St. Peter’s Catholic JHS had their spirits lifted with a score of fifteen (15) points.
Round 4 (One-on-Round)
English experts David and Ama for Peter and Ancilla, respectively, were introduced.
Ama did marvellously get the first question.
Ariel and Bright for Ancilla and St. Peter’s, respectively, as Math experts, also came through, but none could get any points.
Paa Kwesi for St. Peter’s and Diamond for Ancilla, respectively, were given the nod as Science specialists.
The first question was neatly done for Diamond under no pressure.
Awazi and Joshua for Ancilla and St. Peter’s made themselves visible as social literacy experts.
Awazi bagged the second question to end this round after the first question was incorrectly answered.
Ancilla had completed a truly dominant victory over St. Peter’s by scoring another thirty (30) points against zero (0) for St. Peter’s.
At the end of the contest, Ancilla was marching into the quarterfinals with one hundred and seventy (170) points to St. Peter’s seventy (70) points.
Well done to St. Peter’s for making it this far. Big congratulations to Ancilla!
