Senior Sharks 8 quarterfinals- St. Hubert beat Okuapeman the hard way
For the third time in Senior Sharks 8, a contest had to be decided via the excruciating path of a tie-breaker. The latest in the list of contests with a stalemate conclusion, which had to be broken after extra time, was that between St. Hubert SHS and Seminary, and Okuapeman SHS. With history as our guide, it is discovered that both schools reached this stage in Senior Sharks 7 before bowing out with their pride intact.
Interestingly, whereas St. Hubert (Suhass) lost to eventual winners, Presec, at the quarterfinals, Okuapeman (Okuass) suffered the same fate at the hands of 3rd third-placed team, Labone SHS.
This quarterfinals contest thus served as an opportunity for either school to taste the semifinals of Senior Sharks for the first time.
In fairness, both schools ought to be given their flowers for charting their own course in the Senior Sharks quiz.
St. Hubert SHS, however, showed an indomitable spirit to marshal their forces for a historic comeback.
Round 1 ( Right Corner)
The closeness of this pulsating contest would have its antecedent in the very first round where Okuass scored fifty (50) points with St. Hubert taking forty (40) points.
Round 2 (R Cubed)
Both schools were so good at the start of this round that it was difficult to separate them in the Reading & Writing segment.
Okuass were, however, able to keep their heads cool with better accuracy in the Arithmetic segment.
At the end of Round 2 Okuapemman School extended their lead with forty (40) points while Sahuss refused to be dislodged from the back of Okuass with thirty (30) points.
Round 3 (STEM)
With two more rounds to go, this contest was still available for which team would display a hungrier appetite for success.
At the end of the round, both schools made impressive attempts at the riddles but ended up with negative scores of five (-5) each.
Round 4 (One-on-one)
In English, Nixon and Serwaa angled as experts for Suhass and Okuass.
Nixon was the one who dropped the first question for Suhass.
Ishmael and Fianko made up the pair of experts for Suhass and Okuass, respectively, in Math, but neither got any questions correct.
Prince and Scott for Suhass and Okuass, respectively, contended as Science experts, but yet again, it was a drought season.
Then, Michael and Kelvin, for Suhass and Okuass, rounded up the round as General Knowledge experts.
At the end of the round, St. Hubert Seminary High School had thirty (30) points to ten (10) for Okuapemman School.
Thus, the total scores for this contest showed a tie of ninety-five (95) points to each school, which was broken when Ishmael hit the bull’s eye for Sahuss.
