Senior Sharks 9 R16- Presec pumped up for 4th title with pleasant win over Labone SHS
The Presbyterian Boys Senior High School (Presec, Legon) walked into the Senior Sharks 9 quiz and caused everybody to pause in their tracks. The three-time winners announced their presence in the Senior Sharks 9 with a comprehensive win over Labone SHS at the Round of 16 to maintain their quest for an unprecedented 4th trophy. Both schools have been down this road before, having met at the quarterfinals of Senior Sharks 5 with the results going Presec’s way. This time also, the results went the way of the Presecans, the only difference being that Labone reduced the margin in this contest.
The loss notwithstanding, Labone’s overall work rate has seen them punching above their weight in the Senior Sharks Quiz.
Even when defeat stares them in the face, they maintain an unbreakable determination to fight for the badge.
But with Presec yet to lose any contest in the quarterfinal apart from Senior Sharks 2, Labone had a mountain to climb.
Round-By-Round Action
Presec knows how to stay on their feet even in unfavourable times. And they showed that once again with twenty (20) points at the end of the round as Labone parted with ten (10).
But the R Cubed Round brought the best in both schools, with each team determined to steer clear of any impending danger.
With sixty-five (65) points, Labone had taken the bull by the horns into the contest, causing the Presecans to rethink their next move.
Presec had fifty-five (55) points at the end of the R Cubed Round, going into their favourite riddles segment of Round 3.
That penultimate round itself did not give the “Blue Magicians”, the alias of Presec, total domination as they would have expected. But twenty-five (25) points against five (5) for Labone went a good way to diffuse the pressure.
Unknown to the viewing public and enthusiastic supporters, Presec had saved the best for the last..
And in blistering fashion, they swept the One-On-One Round with a score of sixty (60), being the biggest so far in the final round of Senior Sharks 9.
Labone, at this crucial moment, unfortunately had nothing left in the tank.
At the end of the contest, the win was relieving for the record holders of the Sharks Quiz who ended with one hundred and sixty (160) points while Labone would be content with their eighty (80) points.

Fun Fact!
Presec is the only school yet to lose a contest in the preliminary to quarterfinal stage.
