Archbishop Andoh R/C and Peniel Academy bring the roof down on Junior Sharks 9

In one breath, the packed auditorium was as quiet as a cemetery, and in another breath, it was brimming with ecstasy.

It was Archbishop Andoh, who burst into action right from the start, amassing seventy (70) points in the Right Corner Round.

Their dominance in Round 1 was, however, short-lived as Peniel Academy showed tenacity to jump into the driving seat in the R Cubed Round.

The conditioning of the contestants from the two schools was truly admirable, as each lent their shoulder to the wheel in the quest for ultimate victory.

When the final round was opened, the contest was too close to call, and anybody could have snatched it at the last hour.

With the last question of the round to decide the fate of this contest, Archbishop Andoh buzzed to bag all ten (10) points.

Right Corner Round

Peniel Academy opened the curtain on this contest. After doing their best in General Knowledge, they were rewarded with forty (40).

An opportunity to put a cushion between the two teams did not go untapped as Archbishop Andoh ended the round with seventy (70) points.

R Cubed Round

Archbishop Andoh let the chance to build on the gains made from Round 1 slip by as they showed a weak appreciation of antonyms and synonyms.

Peniel Academy looked composed, mopping up the bonus questions from Archbishop Andoh to bring themselves level with the 

A strategic interpositional reshuffle by Archbishop Andoh before the Arithmetic segment appeared to have done wonders for them as they scored impressively to restore their hopes in the contest.

Peniel Academy were not completely out of the picture though, and picked their last two questions to end the round.

At the end of a sizzling round, scores showed Peniel Academy with a deserved lead of fifty (50) points while Archbishop Andoh earned thirty-five (35) points.

STEM Round

With the stakes now palpably raised a notch higher, Archbishop Andoh attacked the reading of the first riddle with the view to defuse Peniel Academy but their answer was not naturally selected. Same with Peniel Academy.

The pattern repeated itself on the second riddle- Archbishop Andoh missed, Peniel followed. Fans had their hearts in their mouths at this stage.

Archbishop Andoh did not let the two missed chances disrupt their flow, as they expertly buzzed for the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th riddles.

But trust Peniel not to let Archbishop Andoh R/C run amok, as they straightened themselves to pick the last two riddles in stupendous fashion.

Against this background, Peniel Academy ended the round with five (5) points as Archbishop Andoh was back to the top with twenty-five (25) points.

One-On-One Round

When Adepa from Archbishop Andoh squared off against Daniela from Peniel Academy as English experts, the difference between the two teams stood at thirty-five (35) points.

Daniella reduced the deficit by way of two correct answers- twenty (20) points.

As Archbishop Andoh threw in Blaise as a math expert, Peniel Academy released Dorothy to face him. Unfortunately, none could change the fortunes of their team.

Fredua and Ferbert for Peniel Academy and Archbishop Andoh showed up as Science experts. All credit goes to Fredua for meticulously bringing home twenty (20) points to Peniel Academy.

The experts in General Knowledge came forward- Desmond and Nana Yaa for Archbishop Andoh and Peniel Academy respectively.

Rwandan strong man, Paul Kagame, was not recognised by both specialists.

But it was Desmond who sent supporters of Archbishop Andoh on their dancing feet, swiftly buzzing to the sound of “with you” by Davido.. Pure delight!

Scores at the end of the round gave forty (40) points while Archbishop Andoh took a life-changing ten (10) points.

Thus final scores announced gave one hundred and thirty-five (135) points to Peniel and Archbishop Andoh winning by whiskers with one hundred and forty (140) points. Congratulations to both teams.

Fun Fact!

Peniel Academy with a score of one hundred and thirty (135) goes home as the highest losing team so far in the Junior Sharks 9 competition.
