Junior Sharks 9- Sonrise Christian High rise above Akwadum Methodist
Sonrise Christian High School is beaming with smiles once again after they exorcised the ghost of Junior Sharks 8. The premier private school in the Volta Region went head-to-head with Akwadum Methodist in Junior Sharks Round 1 with the prize for winning this contest being a respectable place in the upper tiers of the competition.
While Sonrise Christian High bounced back from an uninspiring Junior Sharks 8, Akwadum Methodist failed to replicate the form that made them a darling team of Junior Sharks 8 when they pulled a big win over Services JHS.
Akwadum unfortunately failed to sparkle throughout this contest, literally making Sonrise Christian High compete like they were in a sparring bout.
Notwithstanding, Akwadum Methodist Basic School and Sonrise Christian High will be remembered in Junior Sharks 9 as two schools with similar tales to tell.
On this particular occasion, however, it was Sonrise Christian High’s time to shine.
Right Corner Round
Sonrise Christian High School started the contest and returned triumphantly with seventy (70) points, whereas it had a forgettable start to the contest, earning nothing initially.
R Cubed Round
Akwadum Methodist picked the first question in the Reading and Writing segment of the round and they fluffed their questions much to the disappointment of all.
Sonrise Christian High managed one or two questions better and put themselves in a stronger position going into the next chapter of the round.
Sonrise Christian High had five ( 5) points against Akwadum’s negative score of twenty-five (-25).
STEM Round
Sonrise Christian High hit the buzzer to bag the first riddle of the round. Akwadum attempted to match Sonrise Christian High by buzzing on the second riddle but it was an exercise in futility.
Sonrise Christian High got another buzz correctly but undid that positive score with a negative score on their next interception.
In summary, all the correct answers in this round came from Sonrise Christian High Christian Academy which gave them a total net score of fifty (50) points while
Akwadum once again earned a negative score of fifteen (-15).
One-On-One Round
Experts from Sonrise Christian High needn’t do much, as the mathematics showed that Akwadum earning all eighty (80) points would not be enough to overturn the tide in their favour.
Kendrick from Sonrise Christian High faced Claudia from Akwadum respectively and returned with no points.
Next in the shot were Math experts Richlove and Louis for Akwadum and Sonrise Christian High Christian respectively.
Phoebe and Peter showed up as Science specialists for Akwadum and Sonrise Christian High respectively. The twenty (20) points at stake went to the rock Jesus promised to build his church on.
Social Scientists came forward as Prince and Stephen for Sonrise Christian High and Akwadum respectively.
Prince did the right thing- he buzzed before giving his answer to the photo of Antoinne Semenyo, Manchester City and Black Stars player. But the second audio identification missed both of them.
Scores at the end of the round gave Akwadum ten (10) points while Sonrise piled on another twenty (20) points.
Thus, at the end of this dominant performance by Sonrise Christian High, they had one hundred and fifty-five (155) points to negative forty (-40) for Akwadum Methodist. Congratulations to both teams.

By this score, Akwadum Methodist became the first team to end a contest in Junior Sharks 9 with a negative score.
