Junior Sharks 9 semifinals- Ancilla beat Vine Christian to make it 3 finals in a row

Defending Champions, Ancilla Preparatory, overcame a stern test from Vine Christian International High to make their third grand finale appearance. Vine Christian took the battle to Ancilla and nearly rained on the parade of the reigning champions in this semifinal match-up. However, the title holders found strength in depth and proved why they have reached two finals out of two competitions. Both schools demonstrated real brilliance and determination to make winning a realistic possibility, but the final results ultimately came down to the more resourceful team.

This contest, in retrospect, was also a repeat of the Junior Sharks 7 meet-up between these two brilliant schools which was won by Ancilla.

The latest win therefore makes it two for the Haatso-based school over the Trassaco school, and a challenge that Vine Christian has to overcome going forward.

Right Corner Round

Ancilla went in first and did their maximum best but they could earn only twenty (20) points.

Vine Christian showed real intent of overtaking Ancilla but all they could earn was ten (10) points.

R Cubed Round

This is where the contest began to heat up, as both schools demonstrated they can stand toe-to-toe with the best in Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic.

At the end of the round, both teams scored high marks to finish Vine Christian High School with fifty-five (55) points, while Ancilla Prim JHS followed closely with fifty (50) points.

STEM Round

Right from the onset of the round, both teams laid siege and attempted to ambush the reading of the clues. The first of three riddles was brought under control by both teams.

Ancilla was, however, more successful at intercepting the clues than Vine Christian.

At the end of the ten riddles read by the quizmistress, Vine Christian had five (5) points while Ancilla had opened an unassailable gap with forty-five (45) points.

One-On-One Round

Naa Dwomo of Vine Christian met Zormelo of Ancilla as the English experts. Naa Dwoma wiggled her way through the maze to provide the missing letters to the word “labriynth”.

But Zormelo needn’t wander for long on the second question to find the missing letters to the word “peripatetic”. That’s legendary stuff Junior Sharks fans just witnessed.

Bethany for Vine Christian and Marvin for Ancilla respectively took positions as Math experts. Once again, the two experts lived up to expectations as they both took ten (10) points each.

Eden for Vine Christian and Afua for Ancilla respectively appeared as Science experts, but this time around Eden enjoyed all the glory as she snatched all twenty (20) points.

Mavis and Justin were the General Knowledge experts for Vine Christian and Ancilla given the chance to win the contest, but neither found any answers to the audio-visual problem presented.

Scores at the end of the round gave twenty (20) points to Ancilla while Vine Christian led the round with forty (40) points.

In total thus, Vine Christian ended the contest with one hundred and ten (110) points while Ancilla obtained one hundred and thirty-five (135) points.

Congratulations to both schools.

Fun Fact!

Apart from the double-do over Vine Christian, Ancilla have also tied with Ghana Christian Int. High as the only school to make three consecutive grand finale appearances.
