Junior Sharks 9- Royal Intellectuals pin down Agormanya Methodist
Royal Intellectuals have secured their ticket to the next stage of the Junior Sharks 9, after narrowly escaping their clash with Agormanya Methodist School. Both Royal Intellectuals, Mataheko Afienya, and Agormanya Methodist were hoping to stay in the competition longer and enjoy the best the Junior Sharks 9 had to offer.
The contestants looked poised for a battle of their lives, and the first round scores obtained by the two teams matched this prediction.
With the scores in Round 1 cancelling out each other, the long walk to victory had to start afresh.
Back from the Right Corner Round, Royal Intellectuals jumped in front in the R Cubed Round largely as a result of their ability to hasten slowly and pick the correct answer.
Agormanya were forced by this surge from Royal Intellectuals to change tactics, resulting in a lead for them in the STEM Round.
In the last round, the two schools still had a mathematical chance at winning the contest, but they managed ten (10) points each from the available eighty (80) to give Royal Intellectuals a great escape.
Right Corner Round
Royal Intellectuals were the first to put their intellect in Social Literacy on display. Their score of forty (40) at the end of the round was a fair outcome.
Agormanya picked the baton and also put their heads together in a bid to establish an early lead but they could only match the forty (40) points earned by their opponents.

R Cubed Round
Agormanya took their first major question and a second one. Agormanya’s game plan was on course but Royal Intellectuals had the last laugh as they outmanoeuvred Agormanya to end the round with thirty-five (35) points while Agormanya walked away with fifteen (15) points.
STEM Round
Royal Intellectuals made no mistake with their first buzz. Agormanya also responded with their first buzz and went on to add another excellent buzz.
When all ten riddles had been read, it was Agormanya who had led the round for the first time with fifteen (15) points to the five (5) points by Royal Intellectuals.
One-On-One Round
English experts who lined up were Kyle and Louisa for Agormanya and Royal Intellectuals respectively.
Kyle developed cold feet to the first question, allowing Louisa to bring the question home.
But he quickly warmed himself up and beat Louisa to the second question.
Math experts came in the form of Rebecca and Gideon for Royal and Agormanya respectively.
The two questions made the two experts look ordinary as they failed in their assignments.
With Gideon staying on as the Science shark, Aseda was called upon to change the complexion of the contest.
Unfortunately, the two questions beat both of them.
In General Knowledge, Thompson and Gafaru appeared as experts for Agormanya and Royal Intellectuals respectively. None had any clue who the two American personalities- celebrated talk show host, Oprah Winfrey and civil rights leader, Dr Martin Luther King were.
At the end of the round, both schools had ten (10) points for their tries.
Final tallied scores in this well-fought contest gave eighty (80) points to Agormanya Methodist, with Royal Intellectuals earning ninety (90) points. Congratulations to both teams.

Fun Fact!
Gideon of Agormanya Methodist became the first contestant in Junior Sharks 9 to represent a team in two different specialities in the One-on-one round.
The bespectacled young man was the specialist for Agormanya in Mathematics and Science, making him a rare breed for the Agormanyans.
