Junior Sharks 9- St. Monica’s JHS flatten tough seed St. Peter’s R/C Basic School

It was a well-deserved victory for St. Monica’s and an improvement on their performance in their last contest against St. Paul Methodist JHS.

St. Monica’s JHS were in full swing from the Right Corner Round but suffered a minor pushback in the R Cubed Round, and a major one in the STEM Round where St. Peter’s R/C outfoxed them.

The contest was a fast-paced, quick-thinking encounter, with both teams delivering high scores in each round of the contest.

St. Peter’s JHS were amazing, working so hard all through to grab a win, but St. Monica’s remained resolute to give themselves their second Junior Sharks 9 win.

Right Corner Round

St. Monica’s JHS won the toss and thus set this contest rolling.

As a matter of routine, St. Monica’s JHS scored seventy (70) points which is a class act.

St. Peter’s R/C scored forty (40) points at the end of the round, which is also acceptable by all standards.

R Cubed Round

Even though St. Peter’s had been badly wounded in the First Round, that did not deter them at all, as they confidently matched St. Monica’s in all aspects of the round.

At the end of the round, both schools had been tied at sixty (60) points, highlighting the exceptional abilities of the contestants.

STEM Round

The tit-for-tat action in Round 2 continued unabated in the STEM Round as both schools hoped to pile the pressure on the other.

St. Peter’s R/C's fastest fingers snatched the first question of the round, which was majestically responded to by St. Monica’s JHS.

If St. Peter’s answers to the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth riddles were good, the manner in which they delivered the answers was even better.

With St. Peter’s having a free range in the round, St. Monica’s shrugged and intercepted the seventh question.

Even though St. Peter’s missed the next two riddles, they came back to pick the riddle - Englishman who discovered electromagnetic induction, Michael Faraday.

St. Monica’s scored twenty (20) points while St. Peter’s had fifty (50) points as a just reward for their hard work.

One-On-One Round

The contest was a cliffhanger, and the experts had a huge responsibility to seize the moment to etch their names among the stars.

In English, Melissa and Brobbey for St. Peter’s and St. Monica’s answered the call.

The two experts could not earn any points.

Kwame and Bright came forward for St. Monica’s and St. Peter’s respectively in Math.

Bright, who had been the brightest spot for St. Peter’s in the STEM Round, could not replicate his wizardry, as he allowed Kwame to bag the second question correctly after he missed both the first and second questions.

Next was Oheneba for St. Monica’s and Emmanuel for St. Peter’s respectively in Science. 

Oheneba got the first question, “White blood cells”, correctly for St. Monica’s while Emmanuel hit the second riddle “covalent bond” perfectly.

Adrian and Eunice, as General Knowledge experts for St. Monica’s and St. Peter’s respectively, were captured.

Adrian delivered the first question to finish off the round nicely for the Asante-Mampong school.

Scores at the end of the round said thirty (30) points for St. Monica’s JHS and ten (10) points for St. Peter’s R/C Basic.

When final scores were announced, St. Peter’s walked away with a massive score of one hundred and sixty (160) points as St. Monica’s JHS triumphed with an even bigger total of one hundred and eighty (180) points.

St. Monica’s JHS and Girls Boarding is the only Saint-attached school still competing in Junior Sharks 9.
