Junior Sharks 9- Royal Intellectuals bow out to Ghana Christian Int. High
The most decorated team in Junior Sharks history, Ghana Christian International High, were in action at the First Round of Junior Sharks 9. They were up against Royal Intellectuals, Mataheko Afienya, who earlier on emerged victorious in a hotly contested duel against Agormanya Methodist. Ghana Christian Int. High looked like a team in peak shape and produced a commanding performance throughout the contest.
The three-time winners' showmanship appeared to have discombobulated Royal Intellectuals as they took an early lead, and never faltered till the end of the contest.
It was an uphill task for Royal Intellectuals to keep pace with Ghana Christian High but even in their difficulty, they braved the storm to bring home some positive news.
Right Corner Round
The blue ribbon for this contest was cut by Ghana Christian Int. High as they looked to get a perfect head start in this contest.
It was a challenging start for both teams but Ghana Christian International High were able to wring water out of stone to earn twenty (20) points while Royal Intellectuals scored zero (0).
R Cubed Round
Royal Intellectuals missed their first question of this round and were unable to pick themselves up after that, allowing Ghana Christian Int High the laxity to up their points total.
The Arithmetic did not go differently either, with Royal Intellectuals missing their first question while Ghana Christian Int High continued to be on target.
Whereas Royal Intellectuals dropped to negative fifteen (-15), Ghana Christian High raised its score to an impressive fifty (50) points.
STEM Round
Ghana Christian High’s interruption to the reading of the first riddle was swift and crisp. Another ten (10) points bagged.
Both teams thereafter approached the questions cautiously, opting to stay out of potential landmines.
Drawing on their experience, however, Ghana Christian Int. High took the bull by the horns and hit a multiple of correct buzzes.
At the end of the round, Ghana Christian Int. continued their dominant run scoring fifty (50) points to Royal Intellectual’s zero (0).
One-On-One Round
For Ghana Christian High, Ritza came as the English expert. Her opponent for Royal Intellectuals was Louisa.
Ritza hit the first scrambled word “Fastidious” correctly. The second question was also taken by Ritza admirably.
Mathematicians Aku Dede and Rebecca stepped up for Ghana Christian Int High and Royal Intellectuals respectively. Ten (10) points went to Aku Dede.
Cleland for Ghana Christian Int and Godwin for Royal Intellectuals came forth as Science experts. To the great relief of all, Godwin took ten (10) points for Royal Intellectuals.
Gafaru for Royal Intellectuals and Ewuradwoa for Ghana Christian High respectively concluded this round as General Knowledge experts, but no points came from them.
Thus, thirty (30) points went to Ghana Christian Int. while ten (10) points went to Royal Intellectuals at the end of the round.
At the end of the contest, Royal Intellectuals had a deficit of five (-5) while Ghana Christian International High School smiled home with one hundred and fifty (150) points.
