Garrison JHS and Angels' Ridge rounded off what has been eight brainy contests of the Round of 16 of the Junior Sharks Season 5.

Angels' Ridge was hoping to secure a seeded placement while Garrison were determined to maintain their seeded placement.

The contest therefore held prospects of a keen encounter that fans could not afford to glaze an eye over. Let's walk through the major highlights of each round and the trick that tipped the tide in favour of the victorious school.

Round 1

Garrison started off with the first set of questions in Round 1, sponsored as always by Kelloggs.

They appeared a wee bit flummoxed and disjointed, able only to bag twenty(20) points from a maximum eighty(80).

For a moment, it looked as if Angels' Ridge was going to suffer the same handicap exhibited by Garrison JHS when it got to their set of questions. They too wobbled with their first set of questions, either answering wrongly or conveniently allowing the questions to pass.

After the near-messy start, however, they were able go regain their composure and deliver a string of correct answers to the remaining set of questions. At the end of the Round, Angels' Ridge had earned forty(40) points from the available eighty(80) points.

Round 2

The initial jitters shaken off, Angels' Ridge switched up gears and flowed seamlessly in the Reading, Writing and Arithmetic Round. At the end of the 'R Cube' Round, they held Garrison at arms length by a fifteen(15) points advantage.

Round 3

Garrison JHS, cast in the mould of Burma Camp JHS, Services and Kotoka JHS rendered a performance reminiscent of the tenacity and resilience associated with military upbringing.

If Angels' Ridge judged that they had the contest wrapped up at this point, then it was an error in judgement.

Garrison took the STEM Round by its scruff and stepped up, buzzing with lightening speed for the first three questions.

The lack of adherence to the rules regarding buzzing resulted in mix-ups which almost ruined Angels' Ridge chances.

Garrison on the other hand, relied on their experience in Junior Sharks and calmly waited for the opportunity presented to secure more points.

For the first time in this cagey contest, Garrison led the Round with thirty-five(35) points as Angels' Ridge followed closely with thirty (30) points.

Round 4

The question on the mind of everyone at this stage was whether Garrison was going to surprise all with another memorable comeback as Services had done early on or Angel's Ridge would call their bluff?

Below is how the chieftains in the one-on-one Round contributed to the victory or otherwise of their team. English segment presented Essien and Kofi Boateng for Garrsion and Angels' Ridge respectively.

Essien had the quickest finger as she answered the second question after both had missed the first question. Then came Daniel and Joseph as Mathematicians for Garrison and Angels' Ridge respectively.

This time, Joseph picked the first question correctly for ten(10) points but both he and Daniel got timed out on the second question.

Breanna and Kendra emerged as Science specialists for Garrison and Angels' Ridge respectively to stake their claim as Ghana's answer to Marie Curie.

It was Breanna who answered the first question correctly while both drew blank for their second question. Social Science experts were- Hopkins and Elikem for Garrison and Angels' Ridge respectively.

After missing the first question, Hopkins was almost close with the answer for the second question. The question which was to identify the duo that sang "obiaa" required Akwaboah and Cina Soul for full marks. Hopkins could only remember Cina Soul which according to the judges was not enough to bag the full points. What an awful miss!

Final Scores at the end of the contest stood at Garrison – One hundred and twenty( 120) points and Angels' Ridge- one hundred and forty(140) points. Garrison therefore exited the R16 of Junior Sharks Season 5 as the highest losing school: a very honourable record to take home. Congratulations!
