Sharks 5 - Keta SHS puts Okuapeman SHS to the sword in their Round 16 contest of Senior Sharks .

Keta SHS puts Okuapeman SHS to the sword in their Round 16 contest of Senior Sharks 5.

All things considered, Keta SHS may not be regarded as one of the prestigious schools in Ghana.

But it is one school which is always punching above its weight when it comes to curricula and co-curricula activities.

In recent years, Keta SHS(Ketasco) has been a thorn in the flesh of schools with respect to quizzes and competitions in the country.

Okuapeman SHS felt the brunt of Keta’s sharp brain in this contest which saw Keta set a new record in Senior Sharks 5.

To reach this stage, the Akropong-Akuapim school had laboriously seen off the challenge from International Community School(ICS).

Okuapeman appear not to have improved much on that performance as they trailed Keta most parts of this contest.

Ketasco as the bell chimed for the end of the contest was on its way to match or surpass the Season 3 semi-final achievement.

Round 1

Keta's performance in this round only goes to show the level of preparedness and seriousness to which they attached to this contest.

The 2021 NSMQ losing finalist set a record as the first school to exhaust their eight set of questions under sixty seconds.

Okuapeman was thus given a tall mountain to climb when it got to their set of eight questions.

The challenge thrown at Okuapeman required full mental alertness, but they were not as prepared as Keta was.

Scores at the end of the round stood at eighty( 80) points for Keta SHS while Okuapeman took away forty(40) points.

Round 2

Both schools were evenly matched when they were asked to pick the odd word out of a given set of words.

The next set of Reading & Writing questions arose in complexity as contestants had the task of filling in missing letters of words.

Quite understandably contestants chose to stay off the questions to protect the precious points gained so far.

At the end of the Arithmetic segment, the scores didn’t differ much as Okuapeman scored twenty-five(25) points while Keta scored twenty(20) points.

Round 3

In the STEM Round both schools cancelled out each other as they gave two incorrect answers to start with.

The lull that followed the string of incorrect answers was broken by Keta SHS as they buzzed correctly on the sixth question.

Keta cautiously buzzed to take the next set of questions and by the end of the round, they had extended their lead over Okuapeman.

Okuapeman scored zero(0) while Keta took twenty-five( 25) points.

Round 4

Since Keta had already set a new record, Okuapeman could also set a new record by being the first school to correctly answer all eight questions in this One-on-one round.

On the basis of their performance from Rounds 1-3, however, it would be the height of folly to bank hopes on such a feat.

So Alfred faced Elizabeth to see who is who in English.

It was only Alfred who buzzed to hazard two answers. Not good.

Pieterson and Amekudzi faced each other as Math experts for Okuapeman and Keta respectively.

Once again, there was no substance in their  guesswork.

Joseph and Isaac came face to face as Science Sharks for Keta and Okuapeman respectively.

Joseph missed the first question which was taken by Isaac graciously.

Their second answers both were returned as incorrect.

Wisdom and Jeannot stood  on opposite sides as the General Knowledge specialists for Keta and Okuapeman respectively.

Wisdom picked the first identification correctly as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Jeannot braved himself to answer the second question but he was way off target.

Meanwhile Wisdom shook his head when the chance fell to him.

Round 4 scores showed that both schools had ten( 10) points.

End of contest scores: seventy-five(75) points for Okuapeman while Keta were riding the waves to get one-hundred and thirty-five(135) points.
