Junior Sharks 9- Effiduase Methodist “B”  no match for Belhaven Montessori School

Their biggest showing came in the STEM Round where they clocked a whopping seventy-five (75) points to leave Effiduase Methodist dazed.

It was an all-around performance by Belhaven showing confidence, knowledge, and teamwork throughout the rounds. Effiduase, even with the loss, were satisfactory in the opening round and must be commended for their bravery.

Right Corner Round

It was Belhaven who blessed the contest by first giving their answers to the octo-General Knowledge questions.

Effiduase Methodist “B” had their time thereafter and combed around for the best responses to their set of questions.

Out of the one hundred and sixty (160) points available, Belhaven took forty (40) while Effiduase Methodist “B” took twenty (20) points.

R Cubed Round

Effiduase Methodist “B” made their first error of the round, and that incident ushered in a series of wrong answers for both schools in the Literacy segment.

For reasons that remain unclear, Effiduase Methodist “B” continued to miss their first set of questions, as the round switched from Literacy to Arithmetic.

Belhaven were the more clinical team, hitting home perfectly major and bonus questions to lift themselves closer to the finish line.

At the end of the round, Effiduase were found wanting with a negative score of forty-five (-45) while Belhaven had virtually wrapped up the contest with a huge seventy-five (75) points.

STEM Round

Sensing that rushed buzzes could inflict further damage to their score, Effiduase decided to err on the side of caution. Belhaven focused its energies on getting more points and kept buzzing and gaining points.

Belhaven ended the round with forty (40) points and Effiduase regressed again with another negative score of five (-5).

One-On-One Round

There was no way back into the contest for Effiduase Methodist, nevertheless, Miriam represented Effiduase as an English expert while Habib did the same for Belhaven.

Habib added another twenty (20) points to the mounting pile of numbers for Belhaven.

As Math experts Eliana and Manuel stood across the podium for Effiduase and Belhaven respectively. Slowly but surely, Eliana picked the second question to bring ten (10) points to Effiduase.

Joel and Zerubabel for Belhaven and Effiduase Methodist came forward as Science experts. The sound of two buzzes all came from the direction of Belhaven and with it, twenty (20) points.

The two specialists who brought proceedings to a close were Jeffrey and Nana Ama for Effiduase Methodist and Belhaven respectively. After a tough afternoon, Jeffrey put a smile on the faces of his supporters with a correct recognition of the logo of Kumasi Asante Kotoko.

Scores at the end of the round gave twenty (20) points to Effiduase Methodist “B” and forty (40) points to Belhaven.

With one hundred and ninety-five (195) points, Belhaven had stepped into the arena of Ranked Schools. 

Effiduase, with all their best efforts, ended with a negative score of ten (-10). Congratulations to both teams.

Fun Fact!

As Behlaven became the team with the second-highest score in the preliminary round, Effiduase also joined Akwadum Methodist as the only teams with negative scores at the end of their contests.
