Junior Sharks 9 R16- “Pride of Mampong”, St. Monica’s JHS humbled by Manna Int
Manna International School returned to action in the Junior Sharks 9, and secured a flawless victory over St. Monica’s JHS and Girls’ Boarding, Mampong- Ashanti. The two-time winners of Junior Sharks have always had a ballistic start to their Junior Sharks campaign, and the tradition continued, as they dominated their regional counterparts comprehensively.
In their first-ever Junior Sharks competition, Ashanti-Mampong’s cherished school, St. Monica’s JHS, performed creditably well to defeat St. Paul Methodist JHS.
They went on to show their quality in this contest by beating Manna International to it in the R Cubed Round.
Their hopes of advancing to the latter stages of the competition, however, were cut short as they came up against a well-drilled Manna Int.
It was a contest full of wits and grit from both schools but Manna International’s superiority in Junior Sharks was the major determinant.
Right Corner Round
Manna Int. was the first to put their social literacy acuity to the test. They delivered as surely as the sun rises with a perfect score of eighty (80) points.
St. Monica’s JHS & Girls’ Boarding galloped and galloped but they earned forty (40) points.
R Cubed Round
St. Monica’s JHS kicked off this round by answering the first question in Reading and Writing, and they didn’t digress.
Manna’s lofty standards unfortunately weren't fully manifested in this segment.
Both Manna and St. Monica’s JHS faced some very tough questions in Arithmetic, but it was Manna Int. who showed they were mathematically active.
At the end of the round, both schools scored big, with Manna scoring forty (40) while St. Monica’s JHS made a comeback with fifty (50) points.
STEM Round
The moment International got into its stride it was not pleasant news for St. Monica’s JHS and Girls’ Boarding.
Manna Int ended the round well after initially finding it difficult to find their way in the riddles.
St. Monica’s JHS could not take advantage of Manna’s relatively low energy in the round, as they also were unable to take any points.
One-On-One Round
The contest at this juncture was heading in only one direction unless an unexplained event occurred.
In English, Aseiduwaa and Brobbey for Manna and St. Monica’s JHS respectively responded to the call to action. Aseiduwaa correctly supplied the idiom for ten (10) points.
Kelvin and Kwame came forward for Manna and St. Monica’s JHS in Math respectively. It was Kelvin with another ten (10) points for Manna.
Next was Francis and Oheneba for Manna and St. Monica’s JHS respectively in Science. They shared the points equally.
Adrian and Joy, as General Knowledge experts for St. Monica’s JHS and Manna Int. were captured. Neither Joy nor Adrian could add any more points.
Scores at the end of the round were thirty (30) for Manna Int and ten (10) points for St. Monica’s JHS.
When final scores were announced, St. Monica’s went back to the town with the “Silver Stool” with an incredible hundred (100) points as Manna Int. triumphed with a total of one hundred and ninety (190) points.

Manna International became the first school to make five consecutive quarterfinals in Junior Sharks history.
