Junior Sharks 9 R16- Vine Christian snatch victory from Victory Standard
Vine Christian and Victory Standard produced a thrilling spectacle at Round 16 of the Junior Sharks 9 as the quarterfinal pairings shaped up. Victory Standard was splendid against Joy Standard to reach this point, while Vine Christian was in its first contest as a Super Ranked School. The contest was full of twists and intense moments as the two schools threw everything they had in a bid to secure qualification into the quarterfinals.
Both schools started by evening out the scores in the Right Corner to make the next three rounds a feisty affair.
After an excellent demonstration of grammatical and arithmetic prowess in the R Cubed Round, Vine Christian left Victory Standard behind.
The Trassaco-located school then fought hard to keep Victory Standard under control in the STEM Round before Victory Standard finally led the final round.
Right Corner Round
Victory Standard won the toss to start the contest and drew thirty (30) points from a possible eighty (80).
Vine Christian also did well and managed to score thirty (30) points.
R Cubed Round
In describing the events in this round, perhaps the only term that comes close to aptly painting a picture is “AWESTRUCK”. Fifty-five (55) points for Victory Standard and Seventy-five (75) points for Vine Christian is a result worth every praise singing till infinity.
STEM Round
Both schools were in no mood to dash away points from deductions and allowed the first two riddles to go untouched.
Victory Standard thought they had the third riddle in the bag, but they were ruled off, which gave Vine Christian all the room to figure out the correct answer.
At the end of a tough round of questions, Victory Standard had fifteen (15) points while Vine Christian was leading with thirty (30) points.
One-On-One Round
Joshua and Naa Dromo became the latest science experts in town representing Victory Standard and Vine Christian respectively.
Ten (10) points went to Naa Dromo for her ability to find a suitable idiomatic term to replace the expression given.
Calista and Bethany stood as Math specialists for Victory Standard and Vine Christian respectively. With admirable composure, Calista took the second question for ten (10) points.
Jemmimah and Eden were next as Science specialists for Victory Standard and Vine Christian respectively. Jemmimah’s two succinct answers sent the passionate fans of Victory Standard into a frenzy.
General Knowledge specialists showed themselves in the persons of Mavis and Joshua for Vine Christian and Victory Standard respectively. And what better way to dance your way to victory as Mavis identified the cultural dance “borborbor” of the people of the Volta Region.
Scores at the end of the round gave thirty (30) points to Victory Standard, with Vine Christian closely behind with twenty (20) points.
Final scores for this of the highest quality said one hundred and thirty (130) points for Victory Standard while one hundred and fifty-five (155) points for the hard-fought winners, Vine Christian.
Fun Fact!
The seventy-five (75) points earned by Vine Christian in Round 2 make them the highest scorers in Junior Sharks 9.
