Junior Sharks 9 quarterfinals- GIU Int. beats Dahin Sheli to make historic semifinals
GIU International, Tema, will be content with their progress so far in the Junior Sharks quiz 9, after defeating a stubborn Dahin Sheli side at the quarterfinal stage. A semifinal berth means that GIU have done two better than they did in Junior Sharks 8 where the farthest they could go was the Round of 16.
It was a thrilling and intense contest, with both teams showing skill, strategy, and resilience throughout the contest.
It was GIU which started in emphatic mode, earning a colossal seventy (70) points in the Right Corner Round.
They kept their foot on the pedal and were ahead in all the rounds except for the final round where Dahin Sheli took it.
Dahin Sheli, second-runner-up of Season 8, could have won this easily but for their miscalculation in the earlier rounds.
Even though they won the last round, their chances of advancing to the semifinals had been irreparably damaged.
Right Corner Round
GIU International Christian Academy took the early lead with seventy (70) points, while Dahin Sheli School scored forty (40) points to set the stage for an intense quarter-final clash!
R Cubed Round
The round witnessed low scores as most of the questions revolved around the contestants of both schools.
That notwithstanding, GIU were more accurate than Dahin Sheli in the Reading and Writing segment of the round. The addition of their Arithmetic scores pushed GIU to end the round with twenty-five (25) while Dahin Sheli backslid to five (5) points.
STEM Round
In a show of STEM mastery, the first six riddles of the round were all answered correctly, with GIU bagging four of them while Dahin Sheli baģged two.
Both schools then took an incorrect answer as they hastened to intercept the riddles before they were finished reading.
Thus at the end of the round, GIU International Christian Academy extended their lead with 35 points, while Dahin Sheli School were not far off with 20 points.
As the contest entered the last round, you could feel the tension rise, and both schools knew that every point would count.
