Junior Sharks 9- Ayikuma Methodist disband North Community School
Ayikuma Methodist Basic School arrived at their first Junior Sharks 9 contest against North Community School, Savelugu, with their eyes on the prize. Having hit a painful dead end in Junior Sharks 8 after losing to Services JHS in a nail-biting contest, Ayikuma Methodist returned to Junior Sharks 9 with renewed enthusiasm and sent North Community packing.
Right from Round 1, Ayikuma Methodist exhibited exceptional dexterity in all subject areas to the delight of the legion of enthusiastic supporters behind them.
Ayikuma’s strength in all departments of the contest was even more blistering in the R Cubed Round where they amassed a shocking eighty (80) points. North Community showed they could compete with the best in Junior Sharks, delivering impressive answers in at least two rounds. However, their overall output lacked the cutting edge required to advance to the next round.
Right Corner Round
North Community were handed the tough test of beginning this contest and they found the questions incorrigible, to say the least.
They could only manage ten (10) points at the end of the round.
Ayikuma went off the blocks and flew like a kite, earning a mind-blowing seventy (70) points at the end of the round.
R Cubed Round
Ayikuma Methodist had the upper hand in the English set of questions, adding valuable points to their gains from Round 1.
With their spirits now in flight mode, Ayikuma soared to the skies with back-to-back answers in the Arithmetic segment.
They were simply unstoppable, and ended the Round with another mouth-watering eighty (80) points against fifteen (15) by North Community.
STEM Round
Ayikuma continued their dominance in this contest, with the fans especially in awe of Hamdiyah’s reflexes.
The confident young lady was the only one with a correct answer in the whole of the Round. Her energy was simply astounding, as she singlehandedly completed an impressive outing for Ayikuma Methodist.
Whereas North Community ended with a negative score of five (-5), Ayikuma Methodist deservedly earned sixty-five (65) points.
One-On-One Round
English experts came in the shape of Abdul Aziz and Edna for North Community and Ayikuma respectively. They shared the points equally.
In Mathematics, Lukman and Saeed for North Community and Ayikuma respectively had their jobs cut out for them. They were to solve the next set of questions in 30 seconds, and Saeed did his best with the first task, but both looked overwhelmed by the second question.
Science experts were announced as Mohammed and Hamdiyyah for North Community and Ayikuma respectively. Hamdiyyah didn’t disappoint yet again.
Juanita for Ayikuma and Yusif for North Community came prepared as General Knowledge experts.
On two occasions, Juanita lived up to the billing after she identified the Minister of Communications, Samuel Nartey George. She also found out the novel “Romeo and Juliet” by William Shakespeare, thereby fulfilling the words of the famous novelist- “all’s well that ends well”.
Scores at the end of the round gave Ayikuma sixty (60) points with North Community getting ten (10) points.
After a jolly ride for Ayikuma Methodist, they finished the contest with two hundred and seventy-five (275) points against thirty (30) points for North Community School. Congratulations to both teams.
Fun Fact!
Ayikuma Methodist, by this win became the first team to bag all major and bonus questions in the Arithmetic segment of Round 2 of Junior Sharks 9.
