Junior Sharks 9 R16- Ancilla Prim. and JHS bring down Angels’ Ridge School

The first contest of Day 3 at the Round 16 of Junior Sharks 9 featured two brilliant schools of Junior Sharks in a thrilling and intense battle.

Angels’ Ridge and Ancilla Primary & JHS were the candidates in this contest whose winner was assured of a date at the quarterfinals of Junior Sharks 9.

Straight from the sound of the bell to start the contest, one could feel the pressure in the auditorium.

Both schools showed determination, resilience, and brilliance throughout the rounds.

Angels’ Ridge were fresh from a superb display against Effiduase Presby “B”, and had hoped to bring the same passion onto Ancilla.

But Ancilla were impregnable, and sounded the bells that they hadn’t lost the shine that made them winners of Junior Sharks 8.

Right Corner Round

Angels’ Ridge started this contest and had the worst possible outcome as they ended the round with no points.. It was a challenging range of questions, but Ancilla did well and answered forty (40) out of eighty (80) available questions correctly.

R Cubed Round

Both schools delivered a strong performance in this round, with a hundred per cent success in the Reading and Writing segment.

With just one miss each in the Arithmetic segment, the two schools produced another sterling display to end the round with seventy (70) points each.

STEM Round 

Angels’ Ridge did not allow Ancilla the room to weigh their options as they buzzed correctly for the first ten (10) points for them.

Unfortunately, Angels’ Ridge made a lot of blunders and backslipped to end the round with a negative fifteen (-15).

Ancilla Primary and JHS were able to negotiate their bearings better and ended the round with a lead of twenty (20) points.

One-On-One Round

Specialists in this round started with Ewurama and Zormelo for Angels’ Ridge and Ancilla Primary & JHS respectively in English. No scores recorded for both.

Jason and Malvin stepped up as Math experts for Angels’ Ridge and Ancilla respectively. They were very astute to bag ten (10) points each- Jason and Malvin in that order.

Benino and Afua got their cape on as Science experts and Benino attempted the two questions and was on point on the second.

Finally, Justin for Ancilla and Jaden for Angels’ Ridge were up to compete as General Knowledge experts.

None added any more points to their teams to bring this pulsating contest to a close.

Ancilla took ten (10) points while Angels’ Ridge scored twenty (20) points at the end of this round.

End of contest scores gave seventy-five (75) points to Angels’ Ridge while Ancilla kept their championship defence dream alive with a one hundred and forty (140) points. Congratulations to both schools.

Fun Fact!

Angels’ Ridge and Ancilla’s score of seventy (70) apiece is the first time in Junior Sharks 9 that two teams have tied with seventy (70) points in Round 2.

With a combined total score of one hundred and forty (140), this contest is the biggest score in the second round of any Junior Sharks contest.
