Mfantsipim ‘school’ Kumasi Academy

Mfantsipim School taught Kumasi Academy a small lesson in the third of Second Round contests of Senior Sharks 7. While the contest may have been slightly cloudy without much azure, Mfantsipim did what was needed to ensure a healthy win. Kumasi Academy (Kumaca) were slow and shaky from the blast of the timekeeper's bell to begin this contest.

They appeared to give Mfantsipim (Kwabotwe) too much room to maneuver, and fell behind drastically as a result.

Not until the last two rounds did Kumaca  double their efforts in a straw clutching attempt to salvage their fortunes.

Mfantsipim, being the steady and established side they are, kept Kumaca at arm's length to earn themselves a second Ranked School status in a row.

Right Corner Round

Kumasi Academy kicked off this contest answering questions on Social Literacy in two minutes.

Kumasi Academy were poor, and ended the Round with ten (10) points.

Mfantsipim School had their turn and pushed hard for a big score, but they could also do away with thirty (30) points only.

R Cubed Round

Between Mfantsipim and Kumaca, it was the Cape Coasters who were answering questions with more accuracy.

At the end of the round, Kumasi Academy were with twenty (20) points while Mfantsipim had thirty-five (35) points.

STEM Round

Kumasi Academy shocked Mfantsipim by decoding the clues to the riddle and earning the first correct score of the round.

But Mfantsipim responded appropriately with a correct call for ten (10) points of their own.

Interestingly, one more correct answer went to each team, accompanied by two incorrect answers.

Both teams therefore left with ten (10) points at the end of the round.

One-on-one Round

The thirty-five (35) points standing between Kumaca and Mfantsipim- advantage Mfantsipim could easily be wiped out by two correct answers from two experts.

Are the experts from Kumaca mentally fortified enough to execute such a project? Question for the gods.

Consequently, Kumaca's Dominic was pitted against Mfantsipim's William as English specialists.

William provided the correct missing letters on the first question, but both failed to attempt the second question.

Marvin showed up to tussle with Joseph as Math specialist for Mfantsipim School and Kumaca respectively.

Expectations from the supporters were not met as both contestants found their answers off target.

Kingsley and Maxcolbe marked themselves as Science specialists for Mfantsipim and Kumasi Academy respectively.

Kumasi Academy's specialist beat Mfantsipim's specialist to the first question, but his second didn't quite meet the mark.

In General Knowledge, Elliott for Mfantsipim School and Lucas for Kumasi Academy respectively were the pair of experts.

They had no clue to the first question asked but Lucas kept his cool to bag the second question.

At the end of the Round, Kumasi Academy had twenty (20) points while Mfantsipim had ten (10) points.

Final Scores showed sixty (60) points for Kumaca while Mfantsipim bagged eighty-five (85) points.

In comparison with the first two contests in this series, Mfantsipim's performance may not have been reassuring.

But each contest, it must be added, comes with its own uniqueness, so we can only wish them well. Congratulations to both teams.
