GIU Christian Academy drill Kotoka Basic

GIU Christian Academy have given Kotoka Basic School their marching orders out of Junior Sharks 7. Kotoka thus follow their next door neighbours, Services JHS, as the two Super Ranked Schools to lose their ranking yet. GIU Christian Academy ran roughshod over Eden Montessori in their last contest. This win therefore will not come as a surprise to many followers and connoisseurs of the Junior Sharks 7.

What many found baffling, however, was that Kotoka JHS appear to have lost their fighting spirit a la Gen. Kotoka after whom the school is named.

Except for Round One that had Kotoka slightly ahead, their points gained in each round kept reducing at an alarming rate.

In the end, GIU won, and won beautifully.

 Right Corner Round

In Round One, both teams struggled and kept passing the majority of the questions till they could pass no more.

GIU Christian Academy thanked their stars for getting one correct answer while Kotoka would deem themselves blest to have gotten two questions correctly.

R Cubed Round

GIU impressed in the Reading and Writing segment in their last contest, with Derek in the thick of things.

Kotoka's efforts in Reading and Arithmetic was also appreciable.

However, their indecisiveness in the Arithmetic segment presented GIU with a golden opportunity which they did not let slide.

GIU picked Kotoka's bonus points to put them in the driving seat in this round.

A last gasp attempt by Kotoka saved the day, to bag their first correct answer in the Arithmetic segment.

Scores at the end of the round were fifteen (15) for Kotoka and twenty-five (25) for GIU Christian Academy.

STEM Round

Both schools were in the land of Nod for a brief period, their senses unawakened to the first riddle of the round, which ironically required “SLEEP” as the answer.

GIU were the first to wake up from their sleep to snatch the second question of the Round.

Joshua, Fiifi, and Josiah were slowly inking their names in glory as they bagged another riddle, and another, and another, and another.

It was all smiles for the lads from GIU with scenes of ecstatic jubilations from their fans.

Little wonder that at the end of the round, they had a whopping fifty (50) points while Kotoka's only correct answer was obliterated by their two incorrect calls. Zero (0) points for them.

One-on-one Round

Ordinarily, a fifty (50) point gap in some contests is not beyond reach. How Kotoka were going to achieve that was the question on the lips of fans.

Michelle and Derek were introduced as English specialists for Kotoka and GIU Christian Academy respectively.

Derek sent Kotoka further into obscurity in this contest when he identified the missing letters in “OBSCURE”.

Up next were Sherry and vintage Joshua as Math wizards for Kotoka and GIU respectively.

Both failed the two questions asked, Joshua visibly ruing the missed opportunity.

Alvin and Josiah as Science Sharks for Kotoka and GIU respectively pulled up in the shot.

Josiah once again showed unparalleled STEM acuity when he brought all two questions in this segment effortlessly.

General Knowledge experts were Oswald and Glorious for GIU and Kotoka JHS respectively.

After missing the first identification, both contestants were seen tussling to be heard, but it was Oswald who got the pass to answer, and he passed the test.

At the end of the round, Kotoka JHS had no points while GIU Christian Academy had fifty (50) points.

When final scores were tabulated, Kotoka had thirty-five (35) points and GIU Christian Academy had one hundred and twenty-five (125) points.

GIU Academy gave a spectacular showing that if it is maintained will put them in title contenders conversation. Kudos!
