St. Francis Girl's SHS Vrs Apam SHS

In the second contest of episode 2 of Senior Sharks 5, St. Francis Girl's SHS and Apam  SHS availed themselves before the Sanhedrin..

The famous Adisadel College, DPS, and Holy Child School had already made it to the next stage of the Senior Sharks 5.

Even though there has been no noteworthy surprises in the Senior Sharks as of yet, the contests have been full of life and excitement nonetheless.

From Apam SHS; Stephanie Pappoe, Winifred Yeboah,  Essien Jeffrey, and Gideon Tawiah lined up for this contest.

In Najat, Bati, Shaida and Nada, St. Francis Girl's SHS banked their hopes for the arduous mission ahead.

The highlight of this contest is the commendable confidence with which St. Francis SHS attempted every single question thrown at them.

Quite apart from that, the well known Apam SHS tore apart their lesser-known opponents without a trace.

Round 1

Apam SHS had the honour of opening this contest.

The first round witnessed one of the sluggish starts to the contests in Senior Sharks Quiz 5.

Both schools probed and searched for answers to their questions, but the return on their efforts was poor.

St. Francis Girl's finished with twenty(20) points same as Apam Senior High School.

Round 2

Contestants Mensah Henry and Emmanuella emerged to replace Gideon and Nada before Round 2 rolled into action.

The contestants lifted themselves up from their sluggishness in the first round and answered most of their questions correctly, except for a few blips.

One thing though was clear as the round wore on, Apam were more assured and superior.

At the end of the round , Apam ascended exponentially thanks chiefly to an inspiring performance by Miss Winifred.

They had fifty-five(55) points while the Jirapa girls took same twenty(20) points as in the first round.

Round 3

The penultimate round of The Sharks Quiz concerns STEM questions.

Apam SHS hit a few questions right but they razed all that down with incorrect answers as well.

St. Francis also took the risk and attempted all of the questions.

But risk alone without sound reasoning underpinning it is insufficient in the Scientific sphere.

All said and done, Apam’s correct and incorrect answers had cancelled out to leave them with zero(0) points.

St. Francis descended further into a black hole and found themselves completely lost with negative twenty-five(-25) points.

Round 4

The one-on-one round featured Stephanie and Bati for Apam and St. Francis Girl's SHS respectively as English specialists.

Stephanie picked correctly the first question asking for a synonym to the word “munificence”.

The second question was wrongly answered by both contestants.

In the Math segment, it was Henry and Shaida who offered their services.

After Shaida had hit an incorrect answer, Henry buzzed to nail the first question correctly.

On the second question, Henry missed it as Shaida kept shaking her head to indicate that she has not the faintest idea.

Winifred and Emmanuella appeared from the blinds as the Science geeks.

The sheer complexity of the first question dazed the two contestants as it was being read.

Clearly unsure  what the correct answer was, Winnifred buzzed to try her luck by choosing option “B” as the answer.

Emmanuella also decided to go for option “D".

Both options were incorrect as the answer lied between “B” and “D”, which was option “C".

Same guesswork was repeated by both candidates on the second question, but once again it failed to work.

Finally, General Knowledge kingpins Gideon for Apam SHS and Najat for St. Francis Girl's respectively faced each other.

The first picture of Senegalese-born Italy based Tiktoker, Khaby Lame, was pulled in the shot for identification.

Khaby Lame is the most followed person on entertainment app, Tiktok, with more than 144.6 million followers as of June 28, 2022.( source: www.intheknow.com).

The two contestants could not identify the 22-year old.

Bishop Richard Kuuia Baawobr who was recently appointed as a member of the Pontifical Council by Pope Francis had his picture in the shot.

Najat, coming from a Catholic School was close to the answer as she got the given name right.

But the surname escaped her at the most crucial moment.

As a result she couldn’t be awarded full marks, not even as a form of consolation.

The contest was over and Apam SHS booked a place in the Round of 16 with ninety-five( 95) points to fifteen (15) points by St. Francis.
