Junior Sharks 8 semifinals- Dazzling Dahin Sheli bows out to 2-time champions Manna Int.
Dahin Sheli, Tamale, are out of the Junior Sharks 8 quiz, losing to Manna International, in a nail biting encounter. A semifinal clash producing the highest combined scores in Junior Sharks 8 just goes to show the bright minds that were competing in stratospheric mode. In Season 7 of the Junior Sharks quiz, both Dahin Sheli and Manna Int were knocked out at the quarterfinals stage by Ancilla Preparatory- 1st runner-up and eventual winners DPSI, respectively.
Reaching the semifinals of Junior Sharks 8 for Dahin Sheli was, therefore, one better than what they did in Junior Sharks 7.
For Manna International, it was a show of their resilience to bounce back and reach the semifinals after their painful loss to DPSI in Season 7.
In this semifinal contest, both Dahin Sheli and Manna Int provided fans with a blend of textbook knowledge and out-of-the-box thinking yet to be seen in Junior Sharks 8.
Additionally, Best Contestants awardees in the respective subjects also started separating themselves from the rest of the pack.
At all times in this super clash, the two teams kept fans applauding them for the superior brain power they exhibited.
As there will always be one winner to emerge in such contests, the day belonged to Manna Int. who strategically outplayed Dahin Sheli in Round 2 to dash the hopes of the starlets from the North.
Round 1 (Right Corner Round)
Manna Int. braced themselves for the enormous task ahead, being the first to answer their General Knowledge questions.
On any day, sixty (60) points in a semifinal contest could only be the dream start every school wished and prayed for.
But Dahin Sheli, wouldn’t let Manna have their leeway in this contest that meant the world to them.
They also earned fifty (50) points at the end of the round to keep the contest wide open.
Round 2 (R Cubed Round)
Dahin Sheli buzzed for their question, but unfortunately, luck didn’t smile on them.
Manna, however, got their first question in the English segment right on target.
It was evident that Manna Int. was higher up in English.
As if that was not all, Manna was to also confirm their razor sharpness in Arithmetics, continuously getting the right answers.
Unfortunately for Dahin Sheli, this round was Manna’s to revel in, with seventy (70) points to the latter and thirty (30) points to the former.
Round 3 (STEM Round)
Having slacked a little in the preceding round, Dahin Sheli shook off the disappointment and asserted themselves in this round, correcting Manna’s wrong answer on the first riddle for ten (10) valuable points.
But Manna Int. would also reorganise themselves to give two correct answers.
However, Dahin Sheli ended the round strongly by taking the last two riddles of the round.
Manna thus got twenty (20) points as Dahin Sheli won this round with thirty-five (35) points.
Round 4 (One-on-one)
Dahin Sheli have been consistent in the final round of their last two contests in Junior Sharks 8.
It simply meant that if they improved on the thirty (30) points earned in each of their last two contests and Manna stagnated, a different story would emerge.
Thus, Merlilyn for Dahin Sheli and Bernard for Manna Int marked themselves as experts in English. Mine, oh mine! What a sight to behold when Merilyn grabbed the first and second questions for Dahin Sheli.
Next up were Abdul Jalil and Ephraim in Math for Dahin and Manna respectively.
Abdul beat Ephraim to it by a fraction of a second when he buzzed first for the first question.
Nana Kweku, another whizz kid and Stephen went in for Dahin Sheli and Manna, respectively, as Science experts.
This time, however, it wasn’t to be for Nana Kweku, as Stephen righted Nana Kweku’s wrong answer to the first question while both missed the second question.
Sulemana and Joy emerged for Dahin Sheli and Manna, respectively, as experts in General Knowledge. It was “joy like a river” for Manna.
At the end of the round, Dahin Sheli won the round with thirty (30) points, while Manna Int. took twenty (20) points.
With one hundred and forty-five (145) points, Dahin Sheli had placed second to the winner, Manna Int who had one hundred and seventy (170) points.
For Dahin Sheli, they take consolation in the fact that their score of one hundred and forty-five (145) places them in the 2nd-runner-up position in Junior Sharks 8. What an achievement!
Manna International booked a berth with Ancilla Primary and JHS in the grand finale to find out the best of the best in Junior Sharks 8. Stay tuned!
Congratulations to these gallant men and women.
