Senior Sharks 8 quarterfinals- Augusco and Keta SHS go down to the wire
St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast, have made another successful appearance in the last four standing in Senior Sharks. It is the fifth straight qualification of St. Augustine’s into the semifinals of the Senior Sharks quiz, a feat bettered only by three-time winners, Presec, Legon. St. Augustine’s College (Augusco) took on Keta SHTS (Ketasco) to decide who would pick one of the remaining semifinal slots of Senior Sharks quiz 8.
It was a high-stakes contest with both schools having their boots on the ground in a combative attempt at outdrawing each other.
Ketasco has been standing on the shoulders of giants in Senior Sharks and retains a top-tier profile in the most innovative high school quiz.
Their performance in this contest, which kept Augusco in check from start to finish therefore did not come as a surprise.
After four rounds of coast-to-coast action, however, it was St. Augustine’s College that came around to dock safely after initially being rocked by Ketasco’s mighty waves.
Round 1 (Right Corner)
Ketasco had a perfect score in this round, an occurrence that’s become a regular feature of their contests in Senior Sharks 8.
With a high score of sixty (60), Augusco were not too far behind Ketasco’s eighty (80).
Round 2 (R Cubed)
The two schools had a fairly comfortable run in the Reading & Writing segment, but Ketasco’s Arithmetic acumen put them ahead for the second time in this contest with a score of sixty (60) to end the round.
Water was beginning to enter Augusco’s boat as they managed forty-five (45) points.
Round 3 (STEM)
Augusco started the STEM round on a good note, and thus began plugging the loopholes occasioned in the first two rounds.
The Bakaano-based school overtook Ketasco for the first time by winning the round with twenty (20) points.
Ketasco appeared to have taken their legs off the pedal, but five (5) points to end the round was better than nothing at all.
Round 4 (One-on-one)
Kwadwo and Demi came through as English experts for Augusco and Ketasco, respectively, with ten (10) points for Augusco.
In Math, Daniel and Lordson duelled as experts for Augusco and Ketasco respectively.
No scores were recorded from them.
Benjamin and Theophilus got on board as Science experts for Ketasco and Augusco.
Again, zero (0) points were recorded from them.
Joshua and Alvin, as General Knowledge experts, showed up for Augusco and Ketasco, respectively.
At the end of the round, Augusco had twenty (20) points with zero (0) points showing against Ketasco’s name.
With one big push in the final round, Augusco had won the contest with one hundred and fifty-five (155) points, leaving Ketasco with one hundred and forty-five (145) points.
Both schools gave fans their money’s worth in this exciting contest, and are deserving of congratulations.
