Senior Sharks 9- Mpraeso SHS try hard but crumble before Prempeh College
Prempeh College, Sofoline, Kumasi, made its first appearance in Senior Sharks 9 a memorable one as it faced Mpraeso SHS in the second round of contests. The ‘Kings College’ were bubbling with energy and vitality, breezing past Mpraeso’s wall to set a new record in Senior Sharks 9. Both schools showcased exceptional brain power, with Mpraeso SHS excelling in the Right Corner Round. But in the subsequent rounds, it was Prempeh College that moved swiftly leaving the mountaineers lost in the woods. Mpraeso SHS have had their glorious moment in Senior Sharks 9, beating Accra Girls in a nail-biting contest to reach this stage.
Dealing with Prempeh College, however, was nowhere near the opposition given them by Accra Girls SHS, as Prempeh College went on to record the biggest score of the day.
The results notwithstanding, Mpraeso SHS are a team still learning and holds so much promise for subsequent seasons of the Senior Sharks quiz.
Right Corner Round (Social Literacy)
This was Mpraeso SHS’s brightest spot in the contest as they were able to record thirty (30) points out of a possible eighty (80).
Prempeh College went one better, displaying their general knowledge, and ended the round with forty (40) points.
R Cubed Round (Literacy and Numeracy)
Prempeh gave a world-class display in the English segment, answering all major and bonus questions.
Kwabena had been introduced into Prempeh College’s line-up, and he understood the task thoroughly.
Except for a few questions that Prempeh College gave a “pass”, they took all major and bonus questions in the Arithmetic segment also.
Mpraeso SHS could not match the high-octane energy in this round and ended the round with fifteen (15) points. But Prempeh’s eighty (80) points did not come as a surprise to fans.
STEM Round (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
Prempeh had by the time the STEM Round began, safely stepped one foot into the next round.
But they did not allow complacency to take the better of them. The two contestants for Prempeh College, Kwadow and Deladem controlled affairs in this round complementarily.
At the end, Mpraeso were with zero (0) points as Prempeh took forty (40) points in this “Nido iron for focus” dubbed round.
One-On-One Round (English, Maths, Science and General Knowledge)
Mpraeso had waved goodbye to Senior Sharks 9, as it was mathematically impossible for them to win this contest.
Regardless, Elizabeth and Sarkodie were admitted as English experts for Mpraeso and Prempeh respectively and they shared the twenty (20) points.
The duo of Kwabena and Eliana were specialists in Math for Prempeh and Mpraeso respectively.
Kwabena made amends for his first near miss for ten (10) points in Prempeh’s name.
Science Specialists showed Deladem for Prempeh College and Samuel for Mpraeso SHS respectively.
Deladem picked another answer correctly for ten (10) points after they both missed “Sodium” for “Magnesium” and “Carbon” on the first riddle.
In General Knowledge, Richmond and Philemon took turns as experts for Prempeh and Mpraeso respectively. Richmond brought his rich knowledge in General Knowledge to bear with two correct answers for twenty (20) points.
On that note, the round came to a close and scores showed fifty (50) points for Prempeh College and Mpraeso SHS with ten (10) points.
Final scores for this enthralling contest gave Prempeh College fifty-five (55) points to Prempeh College’s two hundred and ten (210) points. Congratulations to both schools.
