Senior Sharks Round 16- Okuapemman progress to quarter-finals ahead of UPSHS

Okuapemman Senior High School have made it to the quarterfinals of Senior Sharks 8, albeit through the hard and arduous way. Being in the quarterfinals thus marks the second year running that the mountaineers have earned a Super Ranked status in Senior Sharks. Okuapemman SHS (Okuass) came up against University Practice SHS, Cape Coast, who have shown they are a tough nut to crack. The record of University Practice SHS in the previous edition of the Senior Sharks quiz is also quite remarkable, as they put up splendid performances in Sharks 7 until they lost to St. Peter’s.

This contest, therefore, presented a fascinating challenge for both schools as they planned and plotted, schemed, and strategized ways to bypass each other.

Notwithstanding, both Okuass and UPSHS competed brilliantly and displayed exceptional intellect in all rounds of the contest.

Interestingly also, each school made their strong areas of knowledge count, with Okuass at their blistering best in STEM while UPSHS stayed on top in Rounds Two and Four.

Round-by-round action

Okuapemman’s hard-earned victory could be traced to the very first round when they did one better than UPSHS.

But the Cape Coasters came back in the R Cubed Round and made their presence in Literacy and Numeracy count.

Okuass will counter the lead UPSHS gained in the second round with a sucker punch in the STEM Round to end with sixty (60) points.

With this strong showing and the stretching of the gap between them, Okuass had considered they had this contest in their bosom, but they were given a pleasant surprise as UPSHS threw in their best cards to earn thirty (30) points in the One-on-one round to leave Okuass with nothing.

To the great relief of Okuass, that final surge by UPSHS could not neutralize the five (5) points standing between them to end the contest.

Well done to both schools.
