Evidence of the competitive nature of the first contest of Junior Sharks 8 was seen in the high scores obtained by the two competing schools.

Coming into the contest as first-timers against last Season’s second-round contenders did not ruffle the feathers of St. Peter’s Catholic Basic.

The Madina, Accra-based school put their heart and mind into the contest, and gave Jireh no breathing space throughout the contest.

Out of the four rounds available in the contest, St. Peter’s was unbeatable in three of them, while Jireh took the first round.

Even though Jireh was not altogether overawed, St. Peter’s had done a good job with the time and well-rehearsed answers, which would ultimately be the game-changer.

Round 1 (Right Corner Round)

The two schools, with their fate in their hands under the floodlights, gave themselves an equal chance of winning the contest.

None performed badly, but Jireh knew the ropes well enough and was able to steer themselves to a safe landing at the end of the round.

At the end of the Round, St. Peter’s JHS had thirty (30) points while Jireh Int. garnered sixty (60) points.

Round 2 (R Cubed Round)

With a thirty (30) point gap staring them in the face, St. Peter had to restrategize and come up with some magic.

And they responded well to the call, getting very important points in both the English and Arithmetic segments.

To their great relief, Jireh made some errors that caught them in the web of negativity.

At the end of the Round, St. Peter’s had thirty (30) points while Jireh Int. had a loss of minus five (-5).

Round 3 (STEM Round)

Now that St. Peter’s had shaken off their early morning blues, they made sure to pull away from Jireh to avoid any last-minute surprises.

St. Peter’s JHS ended the round with forty (40) points while Jireh also comforted themselves with ten (10) points.

Round 4 (One-on-One)

Both schools could potentially win this contest depending on how well they played their cards.

Given the points gap, the utmost care and tact are what both schools needed to approach this last round of the first contest of Junior Sharks 8.

All the experts representing St. Peter’s JHS once again added forty (40) points against thirty (30) points by the specialists representing Jireh Int.

At the end of the contest, St. Peter’s made a good case for newbies in the competition by winning the contest with one hundred and twenty (120) points, while Jireh bowed out of only their second Junior Sharks competition with ninety-five (95) points.

The Sharks Quiz is developed by the Academic Talent Development Program and produced by Adesa Production Limited (APL).
