St. Peter’s Catholic, Nkwatia, and Garrison JHS end Day 1 contests on a high

If the first contest of Junior Sharks 8 was a good showpiece for fans, the last contest of Day 1 was an even better one. The final contest of the day featuring Nkwatia St. Peter’s Catholic and Garrison JHS capped an exciting first day of Junior Sharks 8. Having missed the bus to the medals zone in Junior Sharks 7, St. Peter’s JHS came into this contest aiming to make amends. The alacrity with which contestants of Nkwatia St. Peter’s JHS tackled their questions in this fiery contest was enough to know the serious intent.

St. Peter’s Catholic, Nkwatia, and Garrison JHS end Day 1 contests on a high

After taking the first round with an important twenty (20) point advantage, Garrison had the confidence they had it all figured out to win the contest.

Unfortunately, confidence alone was not enough to surmount certain tricky questions in Junior Sharks 8.

They took a heavy fall in the Second Round which would ultimately rock their boat and throw their chances in disarray.

Round 1 (Right Corner)

St. Peter’s R/C took the first step in this contest by answering their set of questions.

Their efforts yielded forty (40) points, while Garrison was sharper and ended the round with sixty ( 60) points.

Round 2 (R Cubed Round)

Garrison missed their first question and s

St. Peter’s didn’t let their chance slip by at all as they bagged their first question beautifully.

The rest of the questions in English were a pulsating mix of correct and incorrect answers for both schools.

In Math, once again, the scenes in the English segment repeated themselves for Garrison, but St. Peter’s didn't follow Garrison, as they showed quick thinking in Arithmetics.

Garrison took a tumble with negative five points (-5) at the end of the round while St. Peter’s claimed a well-deserved fifty (50) points.

Round 3 (STEM)

The first question was beautifully bagged by St. Peter’s JHS, and on and on, they marched with back-to-back correct buzzes.

Garrison, sensing the direction the contest was heading, recomposed themselves and gave the riddles their best shot.

Scores at the end of the round had thirty-five (35) points for St. Peter’s with Garrison slightly ahead with forty (40) points.

Round 4 (One-on-one)

The first experts to take the baton to the finish line were Ivan and Justine for St. Peter’s and Garrison, respectively, in English. None could deliver on their questions.

Mathematics wizards for both schools marched up next, but it was Garrison's Math wizard whose wizardry won the day as he picked the first question.

Next, Jayden and Sarah for St. Peter’s and Garrison, respectively, as experts in Science, came up.

Jayden answered the first question, but instead of urine as an answer to the second question, he went for urea, allowing Sarah to right his wrong for ten (10) points.

Edwin and Eden for St. Peter’s and Garrison as experts in General Knowledge showed up, but both didn’t do much to make their fans happy.

End of Round 4 scores gave St. Peter’s JHS ten (10) points while Garrison once again led the round with twenty (20) points.

With that, end-of-contest scores went as follows: a hundred and fifteen (115) for Garrison and a hundred and thirty-five (135) for St. Peter’s R/C, Nkwatia.

Well done to both teams.
