Unlike in Season 7, however, this quarter-final contest was a shade above their last meeting in terms of firepower and manpower.

This clash was brimstone and fire and produced a higher-scoring outcome in the end than it did last year.

But regardless of the outcome, this contest was going to have a lasting impact on the psyche of these two schools going forward.

It was Matta Devi, in the end, who was able to weather the storm to record a sweet revenge over their perennial opponents.

Round 1 (Right Corner Round)

With their vast experience in the Junior Sharks quiz, both teams knew that a great start to this round could have a positive impact on the entire contest.

Matta Devi was as busy as a bee and was rewarded with a sweet fifty (50) points.

Unlike Matta Devi, Ghana Christian stubbed their foot along the way in getting twenty (20) points at the end of the round.

Round 2 (R Cubed)

The three-time Champions unleashed the full force of their literacy and numeracy might onto this round.

And even though Matta Devi stayed focused, it was Ghana Christian High who left this round feeling uplifted.

Ghana Christian earned seventy-five (75) points as Matta Devi took away forty-five (45) points.

Round 3 (STEM Round)

Just after the round got underway, Ghana Christian snapped the first riddle of the round for ten (10) points.

Against the backdrop of their correct interruption, Ghana Christian got emboldened to buzz for more riddles.

Luck, unfortunately, eluded them as their next three interruptions all resulted in a deduction of minus five (-5) points per each incorrect answer given.

Matta Devi, meanwhile, had laid back, observing how things were panning out in the camp of Ghana Christian.

At the end of the round, Matta Devi scored zero (0) for their inaction in the round while Ghana Christian got penalised with negative five (-5) points.

Round 4 (One-on-one)

Lois and Efua were introduced as English experts for Matta Devi and Ghana Christian, respectively.

The first question and second questions went to Lois for twenty (20) points to Matta Devi.

Sammy and Asante also entered the scene as Math experts for Ghana Christian and Matta Devi, respectively.

None of them attempted the first question but  Asante got the second question for another ten (10) points to Matta Devi.

Nana Kojo and Obed then appeared as Science experts for Ghana Christian and Matta Devi respectively.

Obed hit the first question, and Nana Kojo responded to real ecstatic reactions in the auditorium.

Christian and Kofi Kwarteng for Matta Devi and Ghana Christian, respectively, in General Knowledge, concluded the candidates for subject experts from both schools.

They both shared the twenty (20) points available.

Therefore, fifty (50) points went into the coffers of Matta Devi while Ghana Christian took twenty (20) points into theirs.

At the end of this fiery battle, Ghana Christian had earned an outstanding one hundred and ten (110) points, while Matta Devi was grinning widely with one hundred forty- five (145) points.

Well done to both schools.
