Senior Sharks 8 Round 16: OWASS quench Labone’s dreams

Last season’s 3rd runner-up of the most innovative Senior Sharks quiz, Labone SHS, has waved bye-bye to the Senior Sharks 8 competition. Opoku Ware School were the brains behind the exit of Labone SHS, who had surprised everyone with their sharpness in Season 7. Labone came into this contest with the same mindset to reach the medal zone of the Senior Sharks for the second year running.

They started the contest brightly and tied Opoku Ware (OWASS) in Round 1 of this high-stakes contest.

To reaffirm their ability to spoil the party, Labone SHS (Labosco) shocked OWASS to win the STEM Round.

With the lurking danger of Labone SHS, OWASS had to do something extraordinary to avoid any upsets.

The valiant ‘Akatakyie’ regrouped, and in the final round, they went full throttle to put the icing on the cake.

Round 1 (Right Corner)

As both schools are veterans of the game, the necessity of making the most of the penalty-free First Round was fully known to them.

At the end of the round, fifty (50) points had gone to OWASS, the same as Labone SHS.

Round 2 (R Cubed)

In Round 2, OWASS quickly switched up and bypassed Labone like a whirlwind, earning a colossal eighty-five (85) points. It was a pure masterclass from the Owarians.

But Labone’s forty (40) at the end of the round was a good return for the level of satisfactory effort they put in the round.

Round 3 (STEM)

Labone SHS were still in the game and were aware that an improved performance could do their chances a lot of good.

Even though scores in this round were particularly low, Labosco had a ten (10) points lead over Opoku Ware to enter the final round as potentially the title decider.

Round 4 (One-on-one)

David and Gerald, for OWASS and Labosco, respectively, buckled up in Math as experts.

No correct answer on the first question but David did justice to the second question.

Pernel for OWASS and Jonathan for Labosco, respectively, showed up next as General Knowledge experts.

The first question was missed by both, but Pernel was on point on the second question.

Andrew for OWASS and Nana Twumasi for Labone, respectively, in General Knowledge,e, stood as the last experts of this round.

Nana Twumasi showed his Social Literacy skills with the first photo identification, but none could identify the second photo of “injera”, a staple of Ethiopia and Eritrea.

End-of-round scores had thirty (30) points for OWASS and ten (10) for Labone.

As such, total scores at the end of the contest showed OWASS with one hundred and seventy (170) points and Labone with one hundred and twenty-five (125) points.

The contest between these two schools added to the exciting showdowns the Senior Sharks 8 has been serving.

Kudos to both teams.
