Junior Sharks 8 quarterfinals- Dahin Sheli in close shave win over Matta Devi
Dahin Sheli School are bona fide candidates for the last four of the most widely searched Junior Sharks quiz 8. The Tamale-based school achieved this significant milestone when they had a narrow squeak over Matta Devi in the quarterfinals. By this historic feat, Dahin Sheli bettered the quarterfinal placement they got to in Season 7 of Junior Sharks. Coming up against Matta Devi, who themselves are quarter-finalists of Season 7, presented a different ball game altogether.
The situation looked even more precarious when it was revealed that Matta Devi is the competition’s highest scorer so far with one hundred and ninety (190) points.
Truth be told, Matta Devi is just phenomenal in all spheres of the competition, with very competent and assiduous contestants.
But if there is one thing readily identifiable with Dahin Sheli, though, it is their teamwork, which they have utilised to perfection in this competition.
This set the stage for one of the most mouth-watering shows of the Junior Sharks 8.
Once again, Dahin Sheli worked in beautiful camaraderie to pip Matta Devi to the finish line.
Round 1 (Right Corner)
Matta Devi kicked off the contest with their eighth set of questions in General Knowledge.
They did not disappoint, ending the round with sixty (60) points.
Dahin Sheli also gave their fans something to cheer about by earning fifty (50) points to end Round 1.
Round 2 (R Cubed Round)
As just ten (10) stood between these two schools, how each team fared in the subsequent rounds was going to determine the direction of the contest.
Without further ado, Round 2 began and saw Dahin Sheli missing their first question. They came back to take the next set of questions.
Matta Devi also displayed excellent perception in literacy, with Lois as the go-to person.
Both schools then made excellent buzzes to the Arithmetic questions.
At the end of the round, Matta Devi showed superiority in Arithmetic to end the round with sixty (60) points and Dahin Sheli with ten (10) points.
Round 3 (STEM Round)
In a split second, Dahin Sheli made their buzz to counter the quiz mistress’ reading, and they made it count.
They repeated the magic on the next three riddles but got stuck in their tracks on the next riddle to allow Matta Devi back in it.
Dahin Sheli was to return with more firepower to take the next two questions and the last one, with Matta Devi sandwiched in between.
It was a pure masterclass from Dahin Sheli.
Interestingly but unsurprisingly, Dahin Sheli overtook Matta Devi to end the round with sixty-five (65) points while Matta Devi commiserated with twenty (20) points.
Round 4 (One-on-one)
Lois for Matta Devi and Merylyn for Dahin Sheli, respectively, in English experts walked onto the lectern.
Both Merilyn and Lois brought in ten (10) points to add to their team’s total scores.
Then, Abdul and Asante for Dahin Sheli and Matta Devi, respectively, as Math experts, came up in the shot.
Asante bagged the first question but missed the second question.
Obed and Nana Kweku, being Science experts for Matta Devi and Dahin Sheli respectively, split the twenty (20) points up for grasp.
To end it all, Christian and Sulemana came up for Matta Devi and Dahin Sheli, respectively, in General Knowledge.
At the end of this intensely fought round, Matta Devi and Dahin Sheli both took thirty (30) points.
Thus this pulsating encounter had produced Dahin Sheli as the winner with one hundred and sixty-five (165) points to leave Matta Devi heartbroken with one hundred and sixty (160) points.
The Junior Sharks 8 doffs its hat to these two teams.
